Comments about Hart Soft Pack First Aid Kit - Special Buy:
We are starting to do day hikes, and wanted a first aid kit that was organized and fit alot of products. This kit is it. For the price, it really can't be beat.
What you get for the money are basic first aid supplies organized in a case that are small enough to pack in your backpack. The interior features four sections (two of which fold out), with see-thru pockets that are sized to hold antibiotic ointment, adhesive bandages, and pain relievers. On the interior back panel, there are elastic bands that hold gauze, tape, and safety pins. A decent amount of supplies are included, including scissors and tweezers.
The case itself is a small enough size to fit in a pack. It has two small carrying handles long one size, and two zippers. There are also belt loops along the back in case you want to make a new kind of fashion statement.
I have two main critiques:
-The pack seems flimsier than other first aid kits, but I don't think that is really the case. The problem, if you would call it that, is the case doesn't have the same "fit and finish" as more expensive packs. The first aid supplies are basically identical to more expensive kits. But the case's zippers don't glide quite as nicely as more expensive kits. There is no extra cord to help pull the zipper (I may spend a few $ to add that). Also, the case itself seems not as well made because the seams aren't nicely finished. Because they are exposed, the material will fray overtime. Our other kit has nicely finished seams, and is actually lined, so the pack appears to be more durable, even though both cases are made out of the same material.
-My other gripe is that there aren't extra elastic loops so you can add additional items. I had hoped to use this kit for when we camp, but it may be a bit too small for that.
Overall, I don't believe this kits shortcomings in any way detract from its usefulness and superb value. Hopefully a first aid kit would see limited use, so the seams fraying should not be a problem. For the money, you would still be ahead of you bought two of these and they only lasted a year or two. And they will likely last alot longer than that.
