Brunton has addressed several manufacturing issues with the Profile 2-Burner stove. Modifications have been made to prevent the lid from catching on the drip tray, to prevent the drip tray from separating from the stove base during assembly and shipping, to prevent the windscreens from catching on the underside of the lid, and to reduce movement of the steel grating. Packaging standards have also been improved to prevent damage during shipping

Comments about Brunton Profile 2-Burner Stove with Piezo Ignition:
Ok, so I recieved the package, opened it, and the lid was locked to the body. Almost destroyed it getting it apart. Looks like someone got a hold of it before me, scratches, dents. The sheet metal of the body, which is thin and not smoothly pressed, is crinkled in spots, where it is riveted. Thin metal riveted to thin metal, just doesn't appear strong and makes noise from additional crinkling when opening the lid. The lids sheet metal does not hold form well and pops back and forth rather than being firm and holding its shape.Cheaply made body, in my opinion. Paint already coming off in spots, mostly fold areas in the sheet metal, and it appears as if the lid was dropped at the factory, dented, damaged, and they decided to put it on a stove base anyway. I say this because the damage is localised to just that spot, not adjacent metal of body, where it too should be dented. Anyway, It starts like a champ, runs nice, burns nice. But it's just so poorly made that I think the rivet on the top hinge is gonna pop, so I'm sending it back.Don't know what I'll get next, maybe back to Coleman.Maybe not. Maybe I'll try that Primus stove, I love Primus.

when i first recieved the product, i couldn't even open the lid due to a construction defect. there was a metal lip inside that caught on the lid and wouldn't allow the stove to be opened. finally got it open and tried it on one camping trip, but almost couldn't get it open the night we we cooking out....so, had to return it.

Comments about Brunton Profile 2-Burner Stove with Piezo Ignition:
I had pretty much the same experience as Hendrix. This stove arrived somewhat damaged and after 10 minutes of trying to get the lid open without damaging it further, I gave up. This product was very poorly constructed with what seems like cheap materials. I think Brunton was really trying to make the stove lighter and sacrificed on quality. They should go back to the drawing board and try again.

Comments about Brunton Profile 2-Burner Stove with Piezo Ignition:
I love to cook, and cooking with this stove was fun. I love cast iron cookware, and the sturdy grill holds a large pan or pot easily. The temperature control was great, but you couldn't go extremely low. The stove opened right away for me, I read reviews where people were having problems with it. I opened two at REI and inspected them and found them both to be perfectly satisfactory. Also there were complaints about crooked rivets. The thing is made in China, there is probably just a machine stamping those things all day long. There are lots of little rivets, and they seem to hold everything together well, even after some firm tugs. The stove does hold lots of heat after you shut it off, but it keeps pans of food nicely warm while you finish your sauce, or what have you. I have never set up a camping stove before, and I just screwed the hose onto the stove and the propane canister, turned on the gas, turned the ignition, and it lit the first time, and every time. It is great that no matches are needed, though it did take a firm turn of the ignition knob, which can be hard with greasy hands. The hose was a nice length so that you didn't need to have the canister right near the stove. The nice shiny grill gets discolored right away, but that is to be expected. Perfect for car camping.

First, let me say that I chose this stove after researching to meet my needs, and that I actually like the stove. Read further to see why I do NOT recommend a purchase.Once I decided that I wanted this stove, I went to my local REI knowing that several people could not open the lids (presumably due to a manufacturing problem). They had three in stock.Attempt #1Could not open the lid. NO MATTER WHAT. Store rep mentions several returns. Say's "We should call Brunton". Yes, indeed you should.Attempt #2Lid opens. I purchase and take home to test. Ignition only lights one burner. Pop rivets for hinge poorly applied (askew). Works but a great big dent in the left side where the lid latch attaches. Strangely, the burners do not match up well with the holes provided in the drip pan. They're just off center. I return it next day.Attempt #3Last one left in stock. Fingers crossed. No manufacturing defects, no dents. Get it home, ignition lights both burners. Now I'm happy and it's a great match for my new REI Camp Kitchen. So, although I like the stove, if you use my experience as a benchmark, then you can expect a 66.6% probability of critical manufacturing defects and a return.[...]Go to the store if you want one and take every one in stock out of the box first and examine it carefully. The good ones are great, but the bad ones are really bad.The lesson for Brunton is that if you're going to have something manufactured [...] you should design the product or manufacturing procedures with an assumption of horrible quality compliance.

Comments about Brunton Profile 2-Burner Stove with Piezo Ignition:
I bought this in store before reading the reviews here, but not before opening the box. I was disappointed by what I read, and was keen to pay attention to the condition of my unit when I got back home.I am happy to report that no signs of manufacturing defects with the lid (it opened fine), and had no storage/handling dents or abrasions. The small piano hinges that hold the lid on are creaky and the lid acts like a sounding board, so it does sound bad when opening the unit. But, I opened and closed the unit several times and looked for lid flex or anything weak around the hinges, and saw nothing that would make me feel that it would fall apart. Maybe others got units made from a run of inferior quality/thickness of metal sheeting. The lid and side wind screens on my unit were sturdy enough for me. Possibly a bit of oil in the piano hinges would quite things down. When I placed the unit on a flat surface, only three legs touched the surface, and the stove rocked slightly. The fourth leg was about an eight of an inch off the table. When inspecting the metal on the underside, it looks like it was slightly warped during a press, punch, rivet phase of manufacturing. This is what caused the legs to be off. When I lit the burners, they lit fine (after a couple seconds of pushing the air out of the fuel hose/tubes). It sputtered and had zero flame control for almost 30 seconds, but once all the air was purged, the flame control was excellent. Test was performed at 6000 feet with no wind.A nit pick I have is that the grate that you set the pot/pan on is just resting on the surface of the stove. Not an issue while cooking, and a benefit in cleanup, but when the lid is closed and you are hauling the stove around, the grate moves around freely, making noise and scratching up a nice pretty stove. It would be nice if it clipped in.Speaking of the grate, it appears to be made of a lower (thicker) gauge, and therefore takes longer to cool than than other stoves. The burners themselves also take a while to cool.Overall, a generally nice design, but with somewhat typical made in China quality.
If you like the looks/specs, then get one, and inspect it thoroughly when you pull it out of the box.

Comments about Brunton Profile 2-Burner Stove with Piezo Ignition:
We bought this stove after our previous purchase didn't work at all (a Century brand stove), without reading reviews. I'm surprised by the poor reviews of this stove, as we didn't have any problems described here, so I decided to add my experience. Our stove opened fine, didn't have the manufacturing defect described in other reviews. We purchased it at the store, so maybe that's why it wasn't damaged? The construction is sturdy, and seems to be high quality materials. My only gripes about this stove after using it over 3 days is that it is annoying to have to light the second burner with a flame from the first burner, and the temperature control knobs are a little tricky to adjust the heat.
