The Photon Max is a strong, versatile and ultra reliable headlight with the latest in LED lighting technology. Whether the use is racing or commuting, this light will handle any situation.

  • 3 high-intensity LEDs fill the visual area with light that's much whiter than a halogen system, and the LED emitters last a thousand times longer than equivalent halogen lamp
  • Step it down to half power for more than adequate lighting around town, or use the power-saving steady or flash mode
  • NiteFLUX's cutting edge headlight design features a flow-through housing that's a world-first in LED lighting: "Forced Air Cooling"
  • Cool air flows into the front of the headlight through the deeply finned alloy body, and hot air escapes out the back of the light, keeping the LEDs cool
  • Keeping the LEDs cooler maximizes and maintains their light intensity
  • NightFLUX takes thermal management 1 step further; an integrated temperature sensor in the main heat transfer wall automatically reduces light intensity when it gets too hot
  • Lighting modes include high, medium, low and flash
  • 4-cell lithium ion battery has an integrated extension cord and protective neoprene holster, and mounts inside your water bottle cage
  • Built-in controller maintains a safe level of charge at all times, so the battery can remain connected to the charging power supply indefinitely
  • Protection Circuit Module (PCM) safeguards the battery from over-discharging, electrical shorts, thermal overloading and voltage spikes
  • Low battery protection; automatic shutdown of the light output occurs to prevent excessive discharge of battery, improving long-term battery life and performance
  • Built-in temperature sensor monitors light's heat levels; if temperatures get too high, the light will throttle back to a lower wattage, protecting LEDs from damage
  • Specially made precision prism lens utilizes nearly 100% of internal refraction
  • Includes helmet mount and handle bar bracket mount; comes with sizing pads that fit 21mm - 31.8mm handlebars

          I bought my Photon Max from REI in May of 2009. and I couldn't be happier. I night ride 4 times a week in the Sonoran Desert north of Phoenix. I use the Photon Max as a stand alone handlebar mount light. Not only is this light a great value, it sets the trail a blaze with lumens. I rarely ride on the highest 800 lumen setting, except in hairy technical sessions. The 2nd highest setting is still steak searing bright and gives 5 hours of battery life! It has saved me from treading on rattlesnakes, gila monsters and other notorious desert dwellers. I did exhaustive amounts of research before pulling the trigger on this light and I am so pleased. When I ride behind my buddies I engulf their beams. The only thing I don't like is the battery shape and mounting (more of a personal preference). But I re-engineered a system that works for me. If you want to light up your life...look no further.Give me 29er or Give me Death!Ride SafeFYI - [...] This really helped me in my decision.

            Piece of JUNK!!! Avoid at all costs. For over $300 it should work 100% perfectly right out of the box. Anything else is unacceptable. My Photon Max battery will not charge at all. It will be returned for a full refund tomorrow after work. DO NOT BUY!!!!

            3 LED lights of medium power throw a nice, wide
            beam, but not exceptionally far. Multiple power settings is better than HID.
            Light weight.
            Switch on battery means it has to be accessible-
            cannot be in the backpack.
            Good value.
