Comments about GSI Deluxe Kitchen Set:
We have had this for a few years now and used it a few times for car camping and really enjoyed having all of our tools in one compact spot.
Recently took it on a 9-day backpacking trip and was glad to have it.
What's nice is that it is versatile - the storage panels are velcro so you can remove them, but you can add or remove any part of the set. For backpacking, I did not need the cheese grater or cutting board, so removed those. Added two 3-piece eating utensils and some Campsuds.
I, too, found that the spatula didn't hold up great to heat, but it did well enough. The fact that the big spoon and spatula's handles collapse in is very handy. The spoon is great for serving out dehydrated meals and soups. It does not actually have measuring lines on it so cannot actually be used to measure anything accurately.
I used the whisk a few times for some dehydrated desserts & pancakes.
Love the little S&P shaker - used many many times & holds plenty.
I have used many things in the little squeeze bottles, like jam or oil and vinegar.
The sponge, however, did not hold up or last long, so have had to replace it.
If you add too many other items it can bulge and be hard to zip closed but having it all compact and held in place was great for the backcountry (if you want a tiny bit of luxury).

Comments about GSI Deluxe Kitchen Set:
I bought this set for my girlfriend, and for the most part is was great, but for the spatula, which melts at the end very quickly. It was funny, in a bad way, because it's made for camping and we thought it'd hold up to some heat. So, get a different spatula, but the rest is great.

Comments about GSI Deluxe Kitchen Set:
Received this set as a gift from a friend.
Pros: It contains a nearly-complete set of tools, to which I added the GSI strainer (a must for my favorite camp meal: pasta), a bottle of soap, and two sets of eating utensils. Tools have retractable handles and the spoon is also a measuring cup. The tools are mounted on panels that are velcroed into the case, so the panels can be removed.
Cons: The chamois included pretty useless and we were lucky to have a Packtowel cloth in a borrowed set of pots. I tried to take this set backpacking and the case proved to be difficult to pack. This was entirely my mistake.
The tools are pretty good for backpacking, but next time I'll strip out what I plan to use and throw it all into a mesh or plastic bag. The case will be for storage and car camping, and the included cloth will be for cleaning the bathroom sink.
