After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Comments about Raleigh Mojave 8.0 Bike - 2009:

This is my first mountain bike and I love it. I bought it at a local store. I'm not a cheap person so I wanted better than just a starter bike but not too pricey. Unfortunately I paid about $50 more than what REI is selling it for but I still don't feel that I got ripped off.I am 5'8" so the 16" fit me the best. It is crotch level while standing and maneuvers like a charm. I have been riding BMX for quiet sometime now but the transition to a bigger bike was not too horrible. I am very impressed upon how light this bike is. (even though they can get much much lighter)As I mentioned before I am used to a 1 gear BMX bike. I have always been skeptical about shifting gears. I always remember when I was little and some of the kids had 10 speed bikes that were just horrible. That kind of made me biased to any speed bike. However, this bike shifts so unbelievably smooth I can't get over it. It took about two mile before I got completely used to shifting but I feel like a pro now!!Everything on this bike is soo easy to adjust!! Snap on snap off.....No tools necessary. I use these features all the time. When I ride on campus, I ride with the seat lower whereas on the trail I like my seat high. I drive a small car and do not have the money to get a car rack yet. I can take the front wheel off and have my bike in my back seat in literally 10 seconds.Turning the shox on and off is very convenient. On campus it is much more efficient to turn the shox off. On the trail you can adjust how much shock to give. You can even adjust on/off while you are riding.Disc brakes are awesome but definetely take advantage of the free tune up after 200 miles as the cable do settle in. I love this bike!
