Comments about Boreal Joker Strap Rock Shoes:
Nice shoes.. Use them for gym climbing and am very pleased.. Work very well for both edging and smearing..The padding in the tongue makes the shoes very comfortable while I am bouldering or belaying my climbing buddy.. Very pleased..

Comments about Boreal Joker Strap Rock Shoes:
I bought this pair of shoes to replace my worn out Evolv Pontas'. I first tried them out in the gym and literally the very first hold I stepped on the shoes popped right off the hold. Giving the shoes the benefit of the doubt, I proceeded with my normal climbing session. One thing I can say is that even with a tighter fit they are very comfortable. The sole is not very stiff, when actually makes it good for smearing, but I would not recommend this for bouldering or overhanging routes. Also, unlike my Pontas, there is no rubber on top of the foot/toe so a toe hook is pretty much out of the question. The rubber also is not as sticky as the Evolv Traxx rubber. Also, there is not much of a heel cup, so don't try to heel hook too hard or your heel will pop right out.
Overall, this is a good shoe for beginning climbers and good if you are spending a day on less aggressive or just vertical terrain. I would stay away from the Joker if you climb overhanging routes or need precision performance.
