Comments about GSI Outdoors Vortex Blender:
We have owned and used one for many years without a serious problem(which by itself proves its durability). We use it on our sailboat, which is minimally equipped. After a race or a long sail, when people are tired and exhausted, a wave of enthusiasm and energy will arise when the Margueritas start being produced with this device. The process never fails to elicit polsitive comments. And by the way, service from the manufacturer is great.

Comments about GSI Outdoors Vortex Blender:
I've had this thing for a few years now, and it's accompanied me to outdoor festivals, Burning Man, and plenty of climbing trips. My friends are always SO impressed when I bust this thing out. I actually managed my daily smoothies in the mornings on one trip when a friend had a freezer in their RV to keep frozen fruit! BLISS! [...] HIT with my climbing friends on a few occasions. A Joshua Tree sunset seems to be the *perfect* backdrop for this device.I C-clamped it to my bike handlebars for a day at Burning Man once, [...] My only complaint is that the lid doesn't fit back on to the thing when the base is nested inside. It would be nice if it made a more tight fitting package to travel with. It would also be nice if the handle and C-clamp fastened to the nested contraption, or if it came with a bag or case. I have had the handle separate from the rest of the necessary pieces in the camping gear and found myself in the great outdoors with everything I needed EXCEPT the handle! That was a major buzz-kill. I ended up making a bag for it. When I do have all the pieces, it never fails to bring smiles and laughter. It is a chore to crank the thing, but IT IS A HAND-CRANK BLENDER! It's awesome to use human energy for this purpose, and even if there were a generator around, I would rather use this when outside than an electric one. It brings your camp-mates together for camaraderie, everyone takes a turn cranking it, and the rewards are well-earned and appreciated. It's also a great way to meet camp neighbors if you are so inclined.

Comments about GSI Outdoors Vortex Blender:
this is a fun thing to wip out at camp; definitely worth a couple of laughs from fellow campers, but it does not do a very good job grinding ice...the handle broke when we really cranked it in order to try and get some good slush ice for margs. wasn't able to try with fruit or other smoothie ingredients...i bet it would work ok on softer stuff. so, if you are looking for a power packed smoothie before a big hike, it should do the job...but may need to find a different solution for blended ice drinks.
