Comments about Delta Kayaks Sixteen Kayak with Skeg:
The Delta 16 is my third kayak and I have been paddling on and off for over 25 years. I've been paddling mainly in Lake Michigan, Lake Superior, and other large inland lakes. I am a senior citizen and found the Delta 16 attractive for several reasons. First, price wise, it's a good compromise between rotomolded hulls and the more expensive fiberglass or carbon boats. I like it for it's light weight. At only 50 pounds, I can heft it up on my SUV by myself. I like the adjustments on the seat, as you can move the seat-back up and down to provide appropriate back support. The seat assembly slides back and forth with one adjusting screw. You can also adjust the seat-back to allow you to lean back or forward with a simple clinch cleat on the cockpit. The hatch covers are solid and keep hatch contents bone dry – the lock down knobs are not a problem. This is the first boat I have had with a skeg. Keep in mind that a skeg does not function like a rudder. It's used for tracking. Like all good sea kayaks, the Delta 16 tends to turn into the wind (weathercock). So, if you don't want to work hard when turning into the wind, lift the skeg. Keep in mind that this kayak is not a beginner boat and is really not built for heavyweights. I am very happy with the performance of my Delta 16 and feel it's an excellent value. It will probably last me a lifetime, ha ha.

Comments about Delta Kayaks Sixteen Kayak with Skeg:
hatch covers are horrible.plastic knobs seem like an afterthought.I own the delta 12.10 and luv it.The delta 16 with normal hatch covers and without those ridiculous pods would be a great boat.lose the skeg also.make a delta 14 with a 23 inch beam and no rudder or skeg and you would be back on track with a winner. bohter
