Comments about Montrail Hardrock Mid GTX Light-Hiking Boots - Women's:
Bought 1 full size larger for winter socks/ insulated insoles. Wanted light waterproof shoe for winter slop (wet snow, water, icy). Used in October Sierra hike with a bit of snow, warmer conditions than expected and intended. Kept water out during stream crossings, did run hot inside as expected in fall temps (expect best for Sierra winter temps and shoulder-season slop).
Shoes grabbed the wet/muddy slipery rock well. Very few slips while zipping down 1200'+ section of mostly rip rap. Regular trail was a breeze. Ran sections of trail. Out of box: 14+ miles, 2500+ ft of elevation and the shoes were great. Even though shoes were bigger than needed for fall, no blisters, great support.
Would LOVE to have these shoes in a NON-waterproof (NO goretex) upper. Would also LOVE eVent instead of Goretex, but should work well for intended warm to cold-winter hikes/backpacks.
Mids for this weight range is excellent.

Comments about Montrail Hardrock Mid GTX Light-Hiking Boots - Women's:
Comfortable and quiet right out of the box. Best for shorter hikes and lighter packs. On a 7 mile hike, they were supportive, light, hugged the rock, and comfortable. On a recent 12.9 mi hike, I wished for thicker, more sturdy soles like Vibram, since the bottom of my feet became sensitive.

Comments about Montrail Hardrock Mid GTX Light-Hiking Boots - Women's:
I have horrible feet: bunions, surgeries, skin grafts and more. I need a big toe box to accommodate all my problems. I had a Montrail backpacking boot that was too heavy and rubbed. Then I went to a North Face that worked for a year. My feet keep changing, and they became painful to wear. So, I bought these. They are so comfortable I even forgot to take them off after my last hike! Wore them around the house for about 3 hours. That hasn't happened in 15 years. Great boot.
