Comments about Metolius Colossus Crash Pad:
Here's the deal with this pad. My sister and brother in law have the Metolius Behemoth, which is a fantastic crash pad. However, it has been replaced by the Collosus in the line up. I ordered one before a trip to yosemite and after a few days of normal use it showed serious signs of wear on the green nylon material. The seams started pulling apart as well. It's a great design, and a huge pad, but the material choice is terrible. The behemoth used thick cordura instead of ripstop nylon, and after nearly 2 years of use all around the country, my sisters pad looks brand new. Needless to say, I returned this pad and was lucky enough to find a behemoth [...] For the amount of money this thing costs, unacceptable. Wait for the "next model" to replace this one before buying. It's an investment, it should last.[...] I remain a customer for life.

Comments about Metolius Colossus Crash Pad:
I have two other Metolius crash pads including the BossHog and the Stomp, as well as a Mad Rock pad and they have all worn incredibly well. The build quality of the Boss Hog is AWESOME. The Colossus pad left me very disappointed. The size, thickness, and fold-ability is excellent, but it ripped in the first hour of use at the 'Milks and looks shredded after one weekend. It is simply the material used in this pad. It is not nearly durable enough for a crashpad as it is essentially thick rip-stop nylon. Metolius needs to go back and re-manufacture it using one of their other pad materials. If they had made it out of the material used in the BossHog this pad would get 4/5 stars.

Comments about Metolius Colossus Crash Pad:
I Love this pad. I have been using the Behemoth for years, in my opinion the Colossus is a great improvement on the Behemoth. I've taken this pad every where, Yosemite, Joe's Valley, Bishop, RMNP, and Vedauwoo. It held up amazingly.... Vedauwoo is know for being a harsh testing ground, but this pad showed no signs of wear. A lot of people think that 3.5 inches is too thin, but the foam they stuff in this pad is great, I've taken some pretty big falls on it (25ft or so) and walked away without a scratch.
Oh yeah, If you have a small car... you may need to look at a smaller pad. As this pad may not fit. Unless you get creative.
