Comments about Mammut Tusk 9.8mm x 60m Dry Rope:
I use this rope for longer alpine rock routes where the rope will be dragged over the rock a lot (lot's of simulclimbing 4th to low 5th class stuff).
When you have to walk for hours to get to the base of a climb it's nice to have a rope that is a bit lighter, but climbing alpine rock can wear out a skinny cord quickly. This rope is a great balance between light weight and durability.
the color of the rope against the rock is great when you are rappelling as it is extremely easy to tell the rope from the rock and find where the rope ends.
So far my rope has survived over 75 pitches of rock and is still looking great! And for the price you can't get much better.

Comments about Mammut Tusk 9.8mm x 60m Dry Rope:
Great rope! I just got one this winter, and took it on a 2-week trip. It's lightbut it has enough beef to be really durable--I was impressed.

Comments about Mammut Tusk 9.8mm x 60m Dry Rope:
I use this rope for sport and trad, it works great with both. The 9.8mm is lightweight and feels great. The factory coil claims that bc of the way it comes it won't have any coils even for the first uses, but I found that it still had a few issues for the first 15 or so climbs. This wasn't a big deal since most new ropes will do this anyways. Rope also seems to fray a bit quickly, not badly, but noticeable.

Comments about Mammut Tusk 9.8mm x 60m Dry Rope:
This ropes light weight is great for the long run out pitches at places like Darrington or Tuolmne.
The rope handles really well. I've used mine for a season and the sheath is barely worn.
I use it as a half rope on wandering routes, just don't try to use it as a twin. It will generate to much energy in a fall.
The black center marks against a yellow rope are really easy to spot.

Comments about Mammut Tusk 9.8mm x 60m Dry Rope:
Although this rope felt great, super lightweight (in comparison to some others) and was great to handle it did have some drawbacks. Bought it a month ago, used it the first time this last weekend (July 23-26) at Smith Rock and after day one I started to notice fuzziness coming off of some spots of the casing. Nothing too frightening. Day two, after rappelling, saw some long burn mars on the casing (the once bright yellow rope was now black, as if it was dragged straight down the cliff with me). This event began my frustration with not knowing enough advanced information about equipment, is this normal? Should I be concerned? I cleaned the rope, in the properly instructed manner, and will be taking it back into REI anyways to see if my worries are for not. Smith was great, and the rope held up. It did its job and I didn't fall to my death, plus.
