Comments about Oboz Wind River Hiking Boots - Men's:

I have been wearing this boot everyday for work and for light hiking on the weekends. This boot was extremely comfortable right out of the box and has kept its form and comfort ever since.

I've been impressed with the construction, the water-resistant membrane, the sturdy grip, and the flexibility.

I hope that they make a work boot someday with a steel toe.

Comments about Oboz Wind River Hiking Boots - Men's:

Got these 4 weeks ago, and have had nothing but a great time in them. I replaced the insoles with Superfeet - as the stock footbeds were flimsy. I treated the outside of the boots with Nikwax. They've proven waterproof, super durable, very comfortable.

Comments about Oboz Wind River Hiking Boots - Men's:

i recently bought a pair of mens wind rivers in a US 12 size from Katmandu. I wasnt specifically after a certain brand, just a good long distance hiking shoe and was prepared to spend up to about [$] I tried all the shoes in this price range and walked round the shop in each pair. Comfort is what i was mainly looking for, with water proofness second. Price was not a big factor. After trying about 8 or 9 pairs i had it narrowed down to 2 that felt really good. Oboz wind river was one, and i cant remember the other. I tried both paurs a few times, seeing how they felt. The oboz actually felt really comfortable. It was a nice bonus to me that they were cheap - though i guess this should have been a warning to me. Ive had them for 3 months now and was hoping they would wear in, but they just odnt seem to. Its really hard to describe why they are uncomfortable - they arent too narrow, or pinchy in the toe. I've got a feeling that its the cut and curve of the heel. Ive tried them with and without inserts, and with a few different types of inserts right up to some $50 inserts, and with different combinations. With or without inserts, i always end up with heel blisters which i have never experienced with other shoes before. The shoes are the right size... they just dont grab the foot they way they ought to. I can also say that they arent waterproof at all. Even a small amount of water sees them wet, and wet feet is something that really bothers me. In the end, I would have to say that even my work boots - "Steel Blue" steel caps are more comfortable hiking shoes! also a bit wary of that 5 star all shiny review... seems like a plant to me. For the money, you can get lesser shoes that are better hikers... if that makes sense!

Comments about Oboz Wind River Hiking Boots - Men's:

Initially I ordered a pair of Oboz Wind Rivers in size 10, since that's what I normally wear. After putting on about 20 or so miles, roughly 8 miles at a time, I noticed that after a while into every hike, my (properly groomed) toenails were extremely hypersensitive, making each step a nightmare. So I exchanged them for a size 10.5. Regrettably, I was only able to get in about six or seven miles before embarking on a 45 mile hike wearing roughly 40 pounds through the North Cascades...These shoes gave me blisters on all but two toes, as well as on the insides of each heel. Additionally, they were not waterproof: I hiked through a minuscule amount of snow -- and quickly brushed off what little adhered -- but these boots still felt wet inside. (And none of it got down into the boot from over the ankle supports.)Initially, they were ridiculously comfortable, and they appeared to be well-made. [...] I've since returned them, and now I'm in search of another pair...

Used on trek to Everest and to climb surrounding mountains. Great cushioning, yet stable.
Tried a lot of other boots by major manufacturers; Oboz started by industry veterans.

Comments about Oboz Wind River Hiking Boots - Men's:

I loved the fit of these boots and they felt great hiking right out of the box. Very comfortable. It wasn't until wearing them for a couple of weeks, that I was able to test the waterproof ability of the BDry membrane. They both leaked. I had my forefoot decently covered in river water for a bit. I retested them after they dried out to make sure before returning them. I emailed Oboz and they said they tape the seams and it should be waterproof up to the 4th eyelet, which is near where the membrane stops. I did not go that high when testing in water. So I think they leaked through the seams on the top of the foot. They told me it was likely a manufacturer defect, but both boots failing? They were perfect up until i needed to keep my feet dry. Returned them and am looking at other brands of hikers.
