Comments about Marmot Matterhorn 30 Pack:
I love this pack. I ended up returning my REI flash 30 (was a great pack, but just not for me) and as I was looking for something to replace it I saw this pack online. Went into 3 different stores before I decided to ask an associate where I could find one at which point they told me they only stocked like 6 in the whole company, and the nearest was 400 miles away. So I ended up ordering it and when it came in, I couldn't have been happier. Packs great and is really comfortable.
First thing you notice is all the straps, but I got over that real quick when I realized how adjustable it made the pack. Also, the straps make it easy to attach anything you've got that won't fit inside. I took it on a day hike up Mt. Baden Powell in the San Gabriel mountains about a week after getting it and of the 8 people I passed on the trail, 5 stopped me to look at the pack. Just got back from climbing in Joshua Tree and everyone there really liked it too. The only other time I have had so many people compliment my gear was when I bought my North Face Apex jacket.
It's not an overnighter unless you're a minimalist, which I'm not. I use it primarily as my climbing and daypack and have a REI Flash 50 as an overnighter. Pack stays close to your back and doesn't slide around. I was bummed when I looked for reviews on the pack and no one had posted anything about it anywhere, so I thought I might as well be the first! I hope this helps.
