Comments about Keen Newport Sandals - Men's:
NOT GOOD for wet locations or locations that have things like sand, pebbles, small sticks...pretty much anything outdoors. When wet they stay wet forever and feel slimey. When walking around the sand, pebbles and sticks get into this shoe but can't find a way out unless you take it off and shake it out. It's NOT a sandal, but rather a shoe with lots of openings for junk to get in.

Comments about Keen Newport Sandals - Men's:
These are the best shoes I have ever worn. I am on my 3rd pair and just purchased 2 more pairs in different colors. I can wear these and walk all day, day after day and not have any pain in my feet, hips, back or knees. Any other shoe I have ever worn has caused problems with my body. I just recently went to Disneyland for 2 days in these shoes and had no issue at all. Every other show I have ever owned have started hurting my body after only a couple of hours of being on my feet.
The only problem I have with them is they do STINK! My feet have never smelled so bad. I bought Dr. Scholl's foot spray and use every few times I wear the shoes and now they do not stink.

Comments about Keen Newport Sandals - Men's:
These are great shoes. They have the breathability of sandals combined with the support of an athletic shoe. My husband will not wear any other sandals. The only problem he had...and maybe it just happens with any shoe that you wear without socks...is that they become stinky and you can't really clean the smell away. This is why he needs a new pair every summer. I guess that's normal? Otherwise, I love them, and will keep buying them.

I bought a pair of these before I went on a month long tour of Israel and Egypt. I loved these! They were perfect from hiking up mountains, to going to the beach, to just walking around the countries! I normally hate wearing sport sandals but these I fell in love with. I will without a doubt buy another pair of these. Keen did a great job!

Comments about Keen Newport Sandals - Men's:
I bought these on Thursday night and then used them that night as well as Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the MREA energy fair. I was camping on a bed of pine needles, and walked on pavement, mixed gravel, and grass. The sandals were comfortable when left loose, or with a slight tightening of the cords. My main issue is that when walking on anything but grass little things would get trapped between my sole and the bottom of the sandal. This mainly happened while walking on gravel, but small sticks and pine needles were happy to find their way in from time to time.
The best solution I found was to cinch the cords rather tight. This meant that there was constant contact between the sole of my foot and the bottom of the sandal. The problem with this is after a couple hours of this my foot felt rather constricted, and it wasn't very comfortable to walk around. In the end I just decided to deal with the occasional pebble.
Although annoying, 90% of the time these are great sandals, and for day to day use I will wear them in the summer. I am going on a canoe trip in a few weeks, so hopefully they sand/pebble issue doesn't prove to be too much.

I use them for everything! I have owned every kind of sandal and these are the BEST. Highly recommend. My other pair finally wore out after three years and they endured a lot... I did not have to think twice about buying another pair.

I really love the sandalls; they are by far the most comfortable and versatile shoes I own... wish I had another pair.

Comments about Keen Newport Sandals - Men's:
I bought the Keen Newports for a trip to Spain. I logged a ton of miles over 10 days, primarily on sidewalks and streets (not trails). I'd guess I walked at least 8-10 miles most days (I love walking cities). Overall, they were great - plenty of support and pretty comfortable. A couple of negatives:- both of my achilles were sore after a few days; probably due to the heel strap- they are a little on the heavy side and on the hotter days, my feet were pretty darn hot. I know there is another version of these with lighter nylon straps instead of leather. They are probably better for hot days -- they were also considerably more expensive.- the shoes never stunk, but my feet would get a little ripe after a few hours. In summary, these sandals were a great value at $60ish (on sale). I don't know if I'd pay full price ($85ish).

Comments about Keen Newport Sandals - Men's:
I bought a pair of these because I love my new Keen hiking boots tremendously, and need to replace my aging Teva sandals. I have a new pair of Tevas, but all new Tevas have a one piece lightweight molded plastic sole (unlike my old Tevas, made of a heavier black plastic/foam sandwich that molds to your foot) that I can't wear more than an hour or so before my little toe starts aching.
They felt fine in the store. Oh, that molded plastic isn't nearly as nice as the hiking boots, but these are sandals, right? Fortunately I didn't wear them home. I took them home and wore them while fixing supper.
And discovered that the molded plastic isn't shaped like my foot is, quite. And since it's molded and fairly stiff, it's the foot that has to adapt, not the sandal. After 30 minutes of standing the bones in my feet were scraping together as I moved around and aching. Oops. Back to REI with these!
If you do buy these sandals, give them a good long trial before you go get them wet and dirty. Either they fit, or they don't fit. From my experience with the Tevas, they aren't likely to break in.

Bought these for a trip to Europe. Wore them with socks into churches (dressy enough) and wore them plain into water, hiking, and general wandering. As long as you are not walking in snow, these babies are a great universal shoe.
