Bringing trail-running shoe technology to a full-on backpacking boot makes the waterproof, breathable Salomon Quest 4D GTX hiking boots nimble, supportive and lightweight.

  • Long-lasting split suede leather and nylon mesh uppers offer flexibility, breathability and lightweight comfort
  • Seam-sealed Gore-Tex® membranes offer excellent protection from water yet allow moisture vapor to escape, keeping feet from overheating
  • Rubber toe caps and heel slings protect toes and uppers from bumps and abrasion
  • Padded, gusseted tongues relieve lace pressure while keeping trail debris and moisture out
  • Wicking polyester linings absorb and disperse excess moisture for comfort
  • Removable Ortholite® footbeds add shock absorption while antimicrobial treatment deters odors
  • Dual-density EVA midsoles absorb shock to supply lasting comfort and support

      The best boot I've ever worn! They are ultra comfortable right out of the box. They hook up in everything from sand, to mud, to hardpack. They stay cool even with a sock and liner on in 90+ temps. Not sure how well they'll do in the snow but I'm sure with the right sock combo on you should be fine.
      I've only had them a week now but looking at the fit and finish, running them through the gamet of terains, and packing a 60lbs plus bag around in them I can say that should hold up great. They should wear great, and deal with everything that I'm going to throw at them.
      The only thing that I can say is buming me out about them is that the brown is fugly. And they are a bit heavier then I expected....
      Check back in a month and I'll have a follow up review on how well they are surviving some serious abuse....

        For my size 12 feet these boots were super comfortable right out of the box! I have not tried them for any climbing but they have done well on trails. I've loved a pair of Salomon mountaineering boots I've had since 1994. So far these hikers appear to be another winner from Salomon. Regards, recommending them to others...I've already advised my brother to get them. One note, the "brown" color is more of a pumpkin shade. I'm getting used to the odd look but I have seen the gray ones on other web sites. REI might do well to stock the gray color too.

          - I've had the boots about 1 month, and I am extremely pleased with them to date. The comfort was exceptional right out of the box -- they required no break-in whatsoever. The boots were also a little lighter than I was expecting!

          - Good ankle support is a must for me -- the boots fit the bill perfectly.

          - To date, I've only used the boot for light hiking. I will be taking them Alaska this month and New Zealand next month, and will update my review upon my return.

          - While I'm not wild about the color, given the excellent fit and comfort, I can live with it :)

            These boots are probably my favorite piece of gear and that is really saying something with all the different gear i have. I take these boots with me on hikes and when i go fishing. They are extremely waterproof and durable. The only change i made was to get an insole for some extra arch support. With this add on the boot is the complete package. i would recommend this boot for anyone who wants a reliable sturdy boot. These boots are comfortable enough for everyday use i just don't wear them everyday because i do want the treads to get worn down.

              Wore these on a few light hikes and comfortable as can be! Took them on a week long 30 miles hike in the Adirondacks over several of the high peaks with a heavy load on my back. I mistakenly walked through some wet brush wearing shorts and my socks saturated from the tops down and into the boot. When trying to dry them near a fire I wasn't paying attention and melted the top of one tounge :)Needles to say I gottem too hot, and they remain water proof and comfortable. I personally like the color, it's different. If you have looked recently Salomon has released some new colors. I would recommend these boots to anyone!
