Comments about Kelty Red Cloud 6650 Pack:
I love my Kelty Redcloud 6650. This is one big, heavy pack. My longest trip was a 30 mile trek into the Golden Trout Wilderness. The Redcloud easily handled my 50 + pound load. I bought this big boy because I like all of the comforts including a tent with a floor, air mattress, good food, fishing gear, etc.
I would rate this pack as 5 stars with the exception that one of my pocket zippers failed in the first year of use. I had to stitch the pocket up with my Stewart sewing awl. Other than that, I LOVE IT

Comments about Kelty Red Cloud 6650 Pack:
I carried this pack up Aconcagua, Denali and Vinson (pulling sleds) and Rainier. It has greatly exceeded my expectations. I find the pack to be very comfortable and durable and can hold an amazing amount of stuff. I have only had two problems with it - the zipper on the bottom compartment can be a little tough to move and the waist strap sometimes won't stay tight after I snug it down.
I own six backpacks, including much more expensive models, and this is the pack that I always seem to end up using.

Comments about Kelty Red Cloud 6650 Pack:
I originally bought this pack five years ago for a two week trip to Europe as my checked baggage. I also took a Canon camera kit daypack as my carry-on. Once there, I as able to pack everything into this thing, its big enough to carry whatever you need. Now, five years later, I'm still carrying this thing. I've used it from camping to mountaineering to climbing trips and have found a few things that I don't like about it and a few that I love:
-Because its highly adjustable, it will take a while to get the sit just right. After a while, it will lose its adjustment and you have to start over again; if it does this while loaded, forget about readjustments.
-The hip/waist belt sucks. When I pull it snug, it doesn't have any locking type mechanism, so it just loosens up instantly. I guess I could do more sit-ups, but it should still stay snug.
-The front entrance into the main compartment is nice, but the zippered compartment separator could be attached at the top as well as the bottom. When packing this thing to the gills, it just gets annoying having to hold that.
-The side zippered pockets work well, but if there's anything heavy in them, and you flip upside down, they wont stay. It could have a little more attachment there.
-The bottom compartment is a nice touch too. Zippered access can extend the size of the main compartment if your carrying camera gear (a tripod) or something else tall.
-Side carry straps and cinch straps are pretty tough, although one of them wore a nip from an ice axe, and when I tried to cinch it down, it snapped. Its sewn into the pack so I cant really fix it without cutting into the bag.
Overall, great bag. If your not going on a week long trip, or are the paranoid type who carries everything you can find 'just in case', you may not need this bag; a smaller, daypack, might suffice better. If you do need everything, get this bag - good price too for its size.

Comments about Kelty Red Cloud 6650 Pack:
This is a great pack for the price. I am a pack rat on longer hikes and tend to load up pretty heavy even for shorter three to four day trips. The pack packs easily and carries A LOT so no complaints there. The one problem I have is with the plastic clips for the waist strap, which is undersized for heavier loads. On the second trek I took this summer the belt clip broke, it was not a huge issue as there is a similar sized spare on the removable day pack/belt pack on the top of the pack. They are easily replaced so this is not a huge concern, but if you are planning for a week or longer and plan on carrying a heavy load these clips may not stand up to the strain.

Comments about Kelty Red Cloud 6650 Pack:
Took the pack on the JMT for six days, and have the sores to prove it. Padding in the back and waist belt is non existent. Loved everything else about.
But, if you have to haul extra weight (bear vault, rain gear, tent) on an extended trip, you will be cursing Kelty from the top of the mountain.

Comments about Kelty Red Cloud 6650 Pack:
My friend recommended this pack to me when I asked him what to get. He has had this pack for a few years and told me that he has never regretted buying it. I got it about a year ago and have been through some hard trips (60+ lb load and 10 miles a day) and some easy trips(sub 40 lb and 0-5 miles a day) and this pack exceed every expectation. I did not deal with rain, but I expect that if you get a rain cover this pack would be just fine.

Comments about Kelty Red Cloud 6650 Pack:
This pack is the real deal, it's surprising you can get so much for such a low price. It's made of durable material and is very easy to adjust on the go. The zippers are a little difficult to move around, but I didn't think it was that big of a deal. I've used 3 other large packs in my travels, but this is my favorite. I also own two smaller Kelty daypacks and they are excellent too.
