Over the hills and through the woods, the F7 hardtail mountain bike from Cannondale will get you there without having to huff or puff or blow your budget down.

  • Strong CO2 aluminum frame offers a solid, lightweight ride on smooth or bumpy terrain
  • If the terrain does take a turn for the bumpy, fear not—the RST Gila Pro suspension fork delivers 100mm of travel and can be locked out when not needed
  • Find that just-right gear with the crisp SRAM X-4 trigger shifters and rear derailleur; once in gear, hammer away on FSA CK-306TTT cranks
  • If fate has it that you should need to slow down, Avid BB5 mechanical disc brakes have got you covered
  • Formula DC20/22 hubs are laced up with stainless-steel spokes to Jalco X320 rims; Kenda Nevegal foldable tires take care of traction

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly.       Me and my wife recently got into mountain biking. We had to upgrade from our department store bikes but did not want to break the $600 mark for each bike. I was inteding to get the Bonanza but the salesman pulled this from the rack and I said "There is no way I can afford that Cannondale!" when he replied it is [$]!. I rode it and it fit me perfectly. It comes with a nice level of components for the price (although I will eventually upgrade to SRAM x7s or X9s in the future) . My only complaint is the seat. Either get cycling shorts or replace the seat. I could not belive there was a cannondale in this price range that was this good. I have about 120 hours on it now and it holds up well. After upgrading the shifters (not NEEDED it does shift fine but as parts wear I will upgrade as needed) this bike would be the equivaliant to a $800-$1000 hardtail.

      This was my first bike and I was NOT disappointed! The bike has an overall great build quality. The components are of good enough quality that you won't wanna upgrade stuff for some time. The Avid BB5 disc brakes are really awesome reliable entry level brakes. The Kenda Nevegal tires hold corners amazingly well. Many people have told me they were the best tires you can get, and, after riding some friends bikes, I agree! The seat is a little hard (read: brutal), but a pair of bike shorts should fixed that (mostly). The frame is not the lightest, but it is on par for bikes in this price range. Buy it! You won't be disappointed!

        The first thing I did after buying this bike is replace the saddle...the one it came with was very uncomfortable. Other than that, I love this bike! It is the first bike I've had with disc brakes and they can stop on a dime.

          This is my entry to Mntn Biking, so far only used used it on asphalt.

          The bike seems to have ok components for the price, the lock out forks and disc brakes are why I chose it.

          The left hand thumb shifter is difficult to change to the large gear may be the set up and position of the shifter. Not good if you have any hand or thumb issues. Got a front flat tire the first hour of riding from a small THORN, the tire rubber is too thin, and soft.

          So far Cannondale and REI are making really difficult to give this a good rating.

          Service and delivery comments:

          The REI bike service guy installed the water bottle holder (cage) upside down, then once I got home I noticed one of the cage screws is stripped and will not tighten, and the REI service guy did not tell me!

          The left and right hand shifters are not positioned at the same location. Maybe its supposed to be that way but it doesnt feel right.

            I've had this bike for a month now, and it has been great!!!! Many of the Mountain Bike parks in Atl, have Equestrian, Multi Use, and MB trails all at the same location, I have been riding them all, and no problems thus far, the Ride is very smooth, and it's extremely easy to handle!! If you are just getting in to Mountain Biking this is the bike to get!!
