Comments about Merrell Chameleon Evo Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:
I've been using Merrell Chameleons for a couple of years and am very impressed with the shoe. The low version (Gore-Tex) continues to serve me very well though there is very little tread remaining. I will likely wear them until I can't keep my socks clean for all the dirt leaking up from the ground.
Still, I find the mid version of this shoe to be even better than the low; it has the same great fit, tracts well, is acceptably light and has a decent midsole. It also breathes much better since it is not Gore-Tex. I do wonder why any manufacturer would use Gore-Tex in a low shoe in the first place. Seems pretty idiotic, doesn't it?
I use Superfeet greenie inserts in all my shoes and boots as very few companies install a worthwhile insole into their products, including Merrell, so to be fair this review is for the combination of Merrell Chameleon boots and Superfeet insoles. And that combination is unbeatable. Not all Merrell offerings are up to the challenges to which I subject my feet, but the Chameleons can handle it, unlike the Moab line which is a total disaster in my opinon (I wrecked a pair of these junk shoes in less than month).
If Merrell would install a decent insole into the Chameleons I would have awarded 5 stars. But they didn't so I can't.
But they are very good boots and I recommend them without additional reservation.

Liked the boot, tried it on in the store after ordering online. When lacing up, the top hook broke when I pulled the laces tight! Was quite disappointed as there are no more in my size.
