Comments about Mountain Hardwear Hammerhead 3 Tent:
This is an overall great tent. I have only taken it overnight two different times so far but it has worked great! The first time I used it there was a light sprinkle outside and it was dark. It was only about my third time setting it up but it went up fast and easy with little water inside. This tent is overall easy to set up, and it can be set up with one person. During a rain storm this tent stays completely dry inside. With two people and gear it is very comfortable. Three people with gear may be pushing it because the tent is skinnier on one end then the other. I have not used the tent in high winds yet but you can tell by shaking it that it is sturdy. On a camp out with BSA it got slightly below freezing overnight but the tent stayed warm. I kept all of the panels on the wall completely zipped and in the morning there was very little condensation. I love how you can unzip the interior walls so the tent is half screen. That is great in the summer for breeze.
This tent is a little on the heavy side so it probably isn't best for backing but it could be used. The reason I said it had a poor fly design was because of the doors of the fly (including the main doors). They are smaller than what you would expect on a three person tent and can sometimes be hard to get in and out of. The edge of the fly were the door is unzipped is also slightly closer inward than the edge of the floor. This means that when there is rain and you unzip the fly door, some of the rain on the fly falls onto the floor.
This is a great tent and for the luxury it offers, these cons are very small.
I would definitely recommend this tent to anyone else I meet.
