Comments about Mountain Hardwear Viperine 2 Tent:
I love this tent! I am 6’1” and I felt like Goldilocks trying out tents. This one is too small, that one is too expensive, the other one is too heavy, but the Viperine 2 was just right.
Make no mistake, this is a 3.5 season tent. The first night I used it, the temperature dropped to 8 degrees, and it was cold. The ample ventilation did little to keep the tent warm. The second time, it was in the mid 30s with a 25 knot wind coming off a lake and was quite cozy and steady as a rock. The Viperine 2 performs excellent in warmer weather, with all the mesh. I have had no problem with moisture or condensation.
I use the footprint, and it has protected the floor well. This tent is easy to set up with the single pole, though it takes a couple of times to get comfortable with the process; after that is is a cinch. The design provides significant headroom—-more than comparable dome tents. I would like this tent to be 1 lb lighter, but this is not a complaint.
I evaluated tents for some time, and after my research, I settled on this as a just right compromise of weight, price and space. This is no 2 man tent (no surprise), but for me and my gear it is perfect.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Viperine 2 Tent:
I'm becoming a big fan of your Mountain Hard Wear line of products. My son and I have just moved from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts and I couldn't believe the amount of research and knowledge the parents and kids have regarding camping gear. It's an ongoing competition to find the best product for the best price.
We purchased the Viperine 2 backpacking tent and give it a 5 stars in the ratings. My son is 11 years old. I had him set up the tent in the living room just to make sure he could do it on his own. The next week he went on a backpacking trip with the Boy Scouts. He was the first tent up and said he loves the 1 pole design. He shared the tent with another Boy Scout and had plenty of room. The Vestibule worked great, keeping both of their backpacks and hiking boots dry during a night of rain and wind.
I've used the same tent on a 2 day backpacking trip and loved the extra room it gave me. I kept my backpack inside and stayed dry and warm during a cold night with a heavy downpour. I'm looking forward to next week when I'll try using just the Vestibule and Footprint to minimize weight on a 4 day backpack trip.
