Comments about Mountain Hardwear Switch +35 Sleeping Bag - Long:
I love the size of the Mountain Hardwear Switch sleeping bags as I am 6' and 240 lbs. and don't fit well in a standard bags. These bags have plenty of room to move around and sleep quite comfortable. I originally had last years Switch 20' model and found the zippers constantly got stuck and my feet would get cold. That bag used Thermolite Extra insulation which was a little bulkier fill. I ended up returning it because of the zipper issues and it being a tad bulky to pack down. I then started my search over for a sleeping bag big enough to be comfortable and not to big to pack. Last week I was in REI looking at the sleeping bags and I noticed new Mountain Hardwear Switch sleeping bags. They were in all new colors and immediately caught my eye. The first thing I noticed was how easy the zipper functioned, very smooth. I then tried out the bag in the store with the same results, no issue with the zipper. The second thing I noticed was the insulation, it was much more "down feeling" than the old model. They now use Thermic MX as fill, a much softer and compact material. Since I had the 20' bag before and my feet got cold I was worried about going with the 35" Switch but noted that it was rated with EN, the sleeping bag standard for temperature ratings in Europe. With REI's great return policy, I decided to give it a try. Last weekend my son and I were camping in middle Georgia and the temperature got down to 30'. I stayed warm all night, even unzipping the bottom a little to get air to my feet. The quality is also excellent through out and I love the orange color. So in conclusion I have a bag that fit me well, is comfortable down to the lowest temperature I will camp in, has zippers that are effortless and packs down small in the included stuff sack. Mountain Hardwear took a good bag and made it great with several improvements. I would highly recommended this bag to anyone needing a great bag with a little extra room. Also I did not look at the Big Agnes bags as they are not EN rated and many people say they sleep cold.
