Comments about REI Sahara Convertible Pants - Women's Extended Sizes:
I love having zip leg pants in my size (extended sizes in women's). However, I liked the ones I purchased last year better than the new ones I just bought. Having zippers on EVERY pocket on the women's version is very awkward. And, the waist is not as adjustable or comfortable as the previous version. I plan to trade mine in for the men's version - they have the older version of pockets and a more adjustable waist.

Comments about REI Sahara Convertible Pants - Women's Extended Sizes:
I love the fact that these pants dry quickly. However, there are two problems. First, the waistband is very uncomfortable on bare skin due to the stitching. So ladies, unless you tuck in your shirt or possess undergarments that reach over your belly button it's going to suck, especially if you have a pack on.
The second problem is the legs are too long. So unless I have my hiking boots on, I have to roll up the legs if they are attached.
The previous reviewer does not like the zippers. I love them. It secures items such as lens caps if you don't want to lose them. Especially if you find yourself climbing or wading in the water often.
I think the most important fix would be to get rid of the nasty uncomfortable stitching along the waist.

Comments about REI Sahara Convertible Pants - Women's Extended Sizes:
I bought these pants for my trek to Machu Picchu and they were just perfect (with some adjustments). I'm big and long-legged and normally find it really difficult to get trousers to fit. These were long enough and roomy, too. My only adjustment was to add a belt because without one the waist was much too big. However, with a belt they fit perfectly.
Unlike another reviewer, I liked the zippers on all pockets. I found that I could put my camera in one leg pocket, my video in another, tissues, money, reading glasses, etc, in the side pockets and I didn't notice that they were there, even in difficult trekking conditions. AND they were immediately available when I needed them. I didn't use the convertible function but the placement of the zipper indicated that the shorts would be long enough to be comfortable (other convertible trousers had shorts that were MUCH too short).
