big disappointment

Comments about REI Focus Shorts - Women's:

I bought two pairs of these shorts last year and they are the best shorts I've ever owned. I compete in agility and they are perfect for this sport, the higher rise stays up and stays put while running, the fabric breathes and dries quickly. So when I saw them offered again in new colors I ordered a pair of each immediately. Every detail of the shorts is the same as last year, the type of pockets, the belt loops, the stitching detail on the pockets, so I knew they were the same item. I just picked them up and everything about the cut has been changed. I got out last season's pair and compared them. The rise is lower, the zipper is shorter, the length is shorter, the seat & legs are tighter and the fabric is heavier.

Everything I loved about the shorts has been changed. They are going straight back. In all fairness, when you offer a product, but have changed every aspect of the cut (why?), you should mention it in the description.

    I read the last review where these shorts were rated rather poorly. I did not buy these shorts last year, so I don't have anything to compare them to, but these shorts impressed me immediately. I did have to return the 18-extended size for a 16, as they are roomy with a tad of stretch in them that makes them safe for us heavier girls to try. Trust me, these shorts will fit and cover you well. I bought the blue ones first, and just ordered my second pair in fawn. The blue is a little on the blue/grey side. Because of that, they are more of a neutral than you might think and go well with many colors. I will be a volunteer for the LPGA Solheim cup in August. I have to provide my own shorts. I am going with the fawn pair-the right color for my "uniform". I am confident that these shorts will last the day, wick moisture away well, and offer sun protection. They will look good on the golf course or the hiking trail. The pockets are great! When they are in the laundry, I am sad.

    Beware, you will have to order a size larger than normal for these shorts. However, once you swallow your pride and do it, you'll love them! The fabric is extremely durable, comfortable, and quick drying. I love the fashionable details on the back pockets as well - perfect for going out and about in the mountain towns.
