The Garmin MapSource Topo DVD-ROM for Mac lets you download USGS topographic maps from anywhere in the U.S. into your Garmin GPS receiver.

Similar in format to USGS 1:100,000 scale, topographic paper maps, detailed features include elevation contours, trails and more
Map names correspond to USGS map names for easy referencing from guidebooks; USGS trail names are also used to facilitate planning
Points of interest use thematic icons for areas like parks, campgrounds, boat ramps, airports and others making it easy to plan outings
Covers: national, state and local parks, national and state forests, and national and state wilderness areas
Also features interstates, major highways, rural roads, trails, city neighborhood roads, railroads, power lines, borders and more
Searchable database of cities, geographic names, summits, lakes and more makes locating a special spot quick and easy

Mac System Requirements: Any Intel-based Mac or PowerPC G3 or later Mac, 256 MB RAM, OS X 10.4 or later, 2GB free disk space, DVD drive, USB port, USB cable, 2GB free disk space, DVD drive, 1024 x 768 display. Internet access is required, cable and GPS not included. Before you can download map detail to a memory card or directly to your compatible Garmin GPS, you must ''unlock'' the MapSourceTopo United States Maps 2008 disk. Simply follow the instructions on the included certificate to unlock the entire disk. Next, download the data to a data card or to your compatible Garmin unit.

Comments about Garmin Topo United States Maps 2008 - Mac:

I was completely unable to use this product and had to return it [...]. I've used Garmin's MapSource with my GPS and an old PC for several years now and was hoping that I could finally use a similar software on my Mac. The software comes with no instructions or manual, either hard-copy or pdf format, and there are no instructions online at Garmin's website either. The old MapSource program allowed the user to select regions of the country and then transfer them to the GPS. With the new Mac version, two small programs were mounted on my computer, but they apparently are only used to transfer maps to the GPS. There was nothing that allowed me to look at maps themselves. It sounded like data were being downloaded onto Mac during the installation process (based on the time of the installation) but none of this was accessible and there were no instructions on what to do. I contacted Garmin via e-mail and they did respond quickly, but they were of no help. They simply didn't answer the questions I was asking them.The program also didn't recognize my GPS, so I probably couldn't have used the maps even if the software had worked.I'm hoping Garmin corrects this so I can use my Mac, but this definitely is not the product.
