Comments about Timex Ironman Endurance 30-Lap Combo Shock-Resistant Watch - Full:
This is a good all around watch. The digital display is a nice feature, and you can choose to show the time or the day and date in the display. However, like another reviewer stated, the alarm is pretty soft. It should be louder. Also the watch is not waterproof. It will probably stand up to rain during a hike, but I wouldn't swim with it.

Comments about Timex Ironman Endurance 30-Lap Combo Shock-Resistant Watch - Full:
Years ago I had the non-shock resistant version of this watch and thoroughly enjoyed the functionality. The only problem was that, in addition to breaking the bands within the first year, I would break the watch before it was three years old. To resolve that problem I went with a shock-resistant Suunto Observer, which I enjoyed except for the poor quality bands (I went through four bands in five years--I'm hard on my watches). I was very excited to see Timex produce a shock-resistant analog/digital combo, and the all-black version looks great. The watch is lightweight, tough, and I like the glow-in-the dark hands.
I have a couple of beefs with this watch, however. First and foremost, the volume of the alarm leaves a lot to be desired--it's too quiet to actually wake you up. I need an alarm that will get my attention. It's also so quiet that when pressing the buttons to record workout splits you can't hear a confirmation that you actually hit the button.
Second--and I now that this is mostly a personal preference--for the lap/splits you can view either the lap times or the split times, but not both at the same time. I understand that Timex probably made this choice to allow for larger numbers on the small LCD display, but I personally prefer the original version that cycled between lap and split times.
Even though I'm tagging the Bottom Line that I would recommend this to a friend, I would do so with the caveats above. It's a tough, good-looking time piece that's just a little too quiet.
