It is awesome!! I got this last week and like it a lot. I could charge my Verizon PDA phone and even tried it on the the last year's Samsung and my wife's new Nokia - worked fine!
It took about 4 hours to fully charge the built-in Li-Ion battery from the AC. I wanted to start with the Sun, but they recommend you to start with AC for the longer life of battery so i just did it. When the blue light stopped blinking and became steady I went experimenting with anything i could possibly try to charge. So here're the results of my little in-house research...
On one charge i101 can normally charge a smaller type of a phone like LG Chocolate or Nokia from 0% to 100%. And it takes about 1-2 hours to do it.
After having charged it twice from the AC, I decided to try the real solar charging capabilities and left it under the Sun in my car, on a dashboard. The charging light indicator goes on in a peculiar mode that almost looks like a UV when it is exposed to a direct sunlight.
This charger is basically a solar panel attached to the Li-Ion battery - and this design makes it very convenient. You do not have to leave your phone with the charger. You charge the built-in battery and then use it to power the cell-phone whenever and wherever you need it. It works even at night!
So after leaving i101 for about 7 hours in the Sun, I powered up my PDA from 10% to 75% in 1 hour. This depleted the solar charger's Li-Ion battery again, but it was impressive that this little piece could charge up my XV6700 so quickly and well. It was already late outside when i was driving home and I know this sounds corny, but the mere fact that solar energy could be stored during the daytime and used later so easily made me feel really good about this small investment :)
It is a great product!

Mine just didn't work. I charged it by AC power for the first time, as the directions said. When it was fully charged I used the correct adapters to connect to my phone but my cell phone said "charging source not recognized." And didn't charge it. I also tried connecting my iPod and my friend's cell phone but it wouldn't charge these devices either. How disappointing. And then, the AC adapter broke when I tried to unplug it! Unfortunate becuase it is a great idea, and I would love for it to work! But it just didn't.

Comments about iceTech Solar i101 Mutipurpose Charger:
I was looking for a device that would be affordable and effective. “No-names” do not count as they do not bear any responsibility for what they sell. And I needed the charger for with my iPhone. So I needed a brand with some warranty and sound technical support. Additional factor that influenced my choice of iceTECH was the fact that they bundle 5 adapters with it and they have 20+ other adapters on their site. All are priced[$]better than any competition. So I got a charger and iPhone 30-pin adapter. All works fine, I am happy.

In my search for the perfect solar charger, mainly for my ipod, I found this one in the REI store. It seemed like the perfect solution and would have been, had it worked. It has a good assortment of plugs for various brands of phones and mp 3's. I'm not entirely sure what the problem is, especially in view of the fact that the user guide is useless. It's hard to say if it actually charged, as there is no charging indicator on it. I charged it once by plugging it in and it did charge my cell phone. Then tried to charge it again and then tried charging my ipod, which was unsuccessful, even after leaving the charger outside all day to charge. Plan to return it and try a different brand.

This is a nice little product and works great. Charged my Blackberry Pearl when it was blinking and telling me to charge it or it will die - this unit provided a full charge in less than 2 hours. Worked great on my iPod as well. It is small and light and easy to use. Before having a charger I always had to be really careful how much I used my iPod on backpacking trips. Now I can use it as much as I want as I can renew the battery easily with this charger. One of the best features is the built in battery to store the charge so one can leave the solar charger in camp soaking up the sun and charge your devise whenever you like. Only thing I could see to improve would be a charging progress indicator or charge level indicator for when you are charging by solar as there is no way to tell how much charge is in the internal battery or when the battery has been fully charged (it has an LED indicator for charging with AC adapter). I solar charged mine for the first time in western Oregon November sun/overcast/intermittant shade conditions. I could not tell how much charge was in it but when I hooked up my iPod with 1/2 charge, the Icetech charger provided a full charge in about 20 minutes! At this point I am very happy with this product. I am an avid backcountry backpacker - 4 seasons - and I am thrilled to have this little slice of technology with me on my trips.
