Comments about REI Ace SW 2 Tent:
I was a little skeptical when i purchased this tent. I had never used a single wall tent before, and was not sure how it would perform. I took it on a 9 day trip into one of Florida's State Parks. I arrived at camp late, and had to setup this tent in the dark with minimal light. This is the easiest tent i have ever put up. Setup time was 6 minutes in the dark . The tent held up to 2 days of 30 mph winds and heavy rain while on my trip. The tent barely moved, and inside was completely dry. Most of the other tents were bigger than mine, and most of them ended up filled with water or had the fly's come off in the wind. With the many options of venting this tent, i had no condensation problems at all. Even during the rain, you can get plenty of air circulating through the tent, and not get wet inside. I like the built in fly versus having to put one on. Also the fact that all the adjusting you need to ventilate it can be done inside is a plus. The vestibules kept my boots and some other gear dry when it was raining also. I had plenty of room to stretch out in the tent also and i am 6'0 tall. I use this as a solo tent, because i like having some extra room to move around and store some things inside. If you want a tent that is all around a solid tent, then take a good look at this one. It outperformed my expectations for it big time. This was a test run for this tent. I will be taking this tent with me next march on my attempt to thru hike the AT. Good job on this tent REI!

Comments about REI Ace SW 2 Tent:
I have just recently used this tent on a trip for the first time. I have set it up three times total. After setting it up at home for the first time I could really tell it was going to be a good tent. The recent trip proved me correct. It is very well constructed and (in my opinion) awefully light as well as compact. It fits my girlfriend and myself on big agnes inflatable pads quite well. It sets up in no time at all.
I would imagine that if you were rushing and not being as particular about taking care of the tent as i am that you could have it up in a minute and a half alone. I roll the foot print right up with the tent. When we went to bed the ground was very very damp and there was dew on the outside of the tent. During the night it also rained lightly. We had no water problems at all even after banging into the walls of the wet tent while packing up.
It seems like they thought of most everything with this tent that is practical to have. The footprint attachment is the only thing that i feel could have been more effectively designed. I am only referring to the attachment cords on it. They don't really make much sense, but it does not effect the functionality of the footprint.

Comments about REI Ace SW 2 Tent:
I had a 2-person REI Quarter Dome tent and went on a 60 mile backpacking trip through Yosemite. Several nights were cold and very windy. I decided that I wanted a single-walled tent instead of the mosquito mesh plus a rain fly. I gave the Ace a try on a 40 mile trip through Yosemite three weeks later and I am very impressed. The first night I used it we got light snow that night and it kept us warm and out of the wind. Of course, I have a great sleeping bag as well.
The Ace is very fast to set up... probably around 2 minutes or so. The two windows offer good ventilation. Condensation was very minimal.
In the end, I'm the very satisfied owner of an REI Ace tent. With REI's 100% satisfaction guarantee, there's no reason to not give this tent a try!

Comments about REI Ace SW 2 Tent:
I have literally lived in this tent for almost an entire summer. I bought this tent prior to a 5 week trip in the Andes mountains in Ecuador. I used it once before leaving and it collected a LOT of condensation on the inside that I was hoping was just due to the weather that day...I used it for the entire Ecuador trip and found out that the condensation was not a weather thing, it was an everyday thing. My friend and I had to avoid touching the ceiling if we didn't want to get dripped on. But other than that the tent was amazing.
It is super easy to set up and take down...anyone can do it. It withstood a lot of wind and holds up in the rain. One of my favorite things are the vestibules, which are perfect for holding gear. The size of the tent is great for two people. Not too cramped and not too big. It packs down really easily and small/light. I lived out of it a second time for a month in Alaska and my friend was thinking of buying the same one after a months worth of use. The bottom is super durable, but the sides have some color chips...kind of weird, but just aesthetics.
Overall, other than condensation that I could do without, the tent was exactly what I was looking for.
