The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Princeton Tec Amp 3.0 LED Flashlight:
This is a light, small, LED flashlight with a good beam, but that is all I can say in favor of it. It kept coming on in my packs no matter how I packed it. Then when the batteries are gone it is an awkward arrangement to change out the batteries. On this last trip (hiking in Utah), I packed this flashlight in a hard zippered "sunglass" case - - and it still came on on its own. If you want an LED flashlight for backpacking, hiking and safety - - don't buy this one.
I bought an inexpensive Coleman MAX on this last trip (to replace the AMP 3.0) and it has an intelligent battery changing arrangement; recessed, large, postive click, end on/off button - - and has a nice bright beam. I felt much better with it in my pack than with the AMP 3.0.
I hope REI will quit carrying the AMP 3.0. It is a lemon.

Comments about Princeton Tec Amp 3.0 LED Flashlight:
I bought this flashlight to replace an old Maglite -- I wanted something waterproof and small that wouldn't suck up batteries (and used AAA's, same as my headlamp). This one fits the bill, but there's a couple of things that bother me about it.
First, the batteries are hard to get aligned within the flashlight so that the LED housing will go back on. It usually takes me a couple of tries sitting in the house in good lighting, and is even more of a pain in the dark with gloves on.
Second, once in, the batteries bang up against the casing and rattle. I know, I know, I'm picky, but it's pretty annoying over the long term. I made myself a little cushion for it that fits in the casing from some spare foam I have, but I shouldn't have to. It's a stupid (but little) design flaw.
In closing, if you want something little and inexpensive to sit in a glovebox or your day pack, this isn't the most terrible choice in the world.

Comments about Princeton Tec Amp 3.0 LED Flashlight:
For its relative size and price, this is an excellent flashlight. I've used it around my house and working on my car, though I bought it specifically for backpacking. It's bright, compact, has a long battery life, and adjustable brightness. As a personal rule I don't give anything a perfect rating, but I got exactly what I expected from this product.

Comments about Princeton Tec Amp 3.0 LED Flashlight:
I have had 2 Princeton Tec LED flashlights over the past few years. Although they had great battery life, decent light output, and were comfortable to hold, BOTH lights failed at about the 1-year mark. The lights were gently used, and never got wet. There was never any indication of battery leakage or damage to internal parts, nor were they ever dropped onto a hard surface. Both lights just suddenly quit working. I will not be buying any more of their flashlights. Stay away from these flashlights.

Comments about Princeton Tec Amp 3.0 LED Flashlight:
I bought this for myself to use for walking my dogs in the early morning hours when it is still dark. I wanted echo concerns in the previous reviews that warn buyers away from this product. I returned mine 2x to REI and the second time I got a Surefire, which has been trouble free. The Prinecton is a very poorly made product.

Comments about Princeton Tec Amp 3.0 LED Flashlight:
I bought this for a trail run. After about 5 hours of use at night, it went from being a nice bright beam to on that was so dim I could hardly see the trail. The internals seem to be loose and rattle around from the movement of running.

Comments about Princeton Tec Amp 3.0 LED Flashlight:
i'm not sure if i maybe got an updated version of this flashlight, but i haven't had any of the problems that others have stated in their reviews.
my main use for this flashlight is walking the dogs at night on streets that don't have streetlights. it's very bright for the price and has a very good battery life.
also throw it in my pack when i go backpacking for an emergency light. lights up the woods very well.
i've never had any problems changing the batteries and neither did my girlfriend's 10 year old brother, but they say he is gifted.
and the batteries in mine don't rattle around.
seeing how nice this light is, i'm strongly considering buying the amp 5.0 also.

Comments about Princeton Tec Amp 3.0 LED Flashlight:
First purchase did not work. Exchanged it for the same item. Cannot count on it to work all the time. Sometimes it comes on, sometimes it does not, or it comes on and goes off. Don't trust this light. You can not depend on it to work when you need it most. Would not recommend.

Comments about Princeton Tec Amp 3.0 LED Flashlight:
I am a big fan of LED flashlights but not this one. I bought it last May and initially it seemed OK although the 2 second shut off time is awkward.
After a couple months, I had problems with turning it off. I would try turn it off and it would stay on. One time it took 12 attempts to shut it off (I counted). Thinking that maybe the batteries were to blame, I put in new batteries. Now it turns on OK and then shuts off OK, except that now it will only turn on once. It will not turn on again until you let it sit for a while. Then I can turn it on only once again. Very useless. I will try to return it.
Surefire and Streamlight are good flashlights.
