Comments about Suunto T3C Heart Rate Monitor - Men's:
As a basic HRM there is no better. Read the instructions and play with the functions to figure out how to work the watch easily. I really like the expandability of this watch (PODs) but the options can get a bit expensive. I wish I had purchased just the watch and bought the "Memory Belt" separately. I'm a data freak and would like the R-R functionality for data review. Comes with basic software but FirstBeat provides a better alternative and you need the memory belt to use FirstBeat's full potential. As for true multisport functionality, I'm undecided. I will purchase the optional PODs for the bike and running but I do not expect this to be the one and only data recorder I will need...something I would like just does not exist. It's really nice to be able to replace the battery on my own and be able to swim with watch. It's a good product with flexibility and worth the $$$. If you want just a HRM I feel this is the best option...stylish, replaceable battery, and comfortable.

Comments about Suunto T3C Heart Rate Monitor - Men's:
First, let me say that I love the features of this HRM. I used Polar and Ironman HRMs over the past decade or so, and got this one for the price and the features. It is easy to use, I love the log feature, and it has a clear, bright display. HOWEVER...
I have now gone through two of these (in 6 months), and took them back to REI for the same reason: When used in damp conditions (running in light rain, which happens sometimes in Michigan), the face fogged up and then lines of pixels across the face failed. They would come back when the fog cleared, but it got worse each time. Yes, I checked the battery compartment to make sure it was snug, and no I didn't swim with it.
Finally, the display just gave out - although the functions still seemed to be working (it would beep when buttons were pushed).
The REI rep told me Suunto quality had been spotty before, and REI had stopped carrying them for some time. I have to say that the quality is still not so good.

Comments about Suunto T3C Heart Rate Monitor - Men's:
I have had the T3C for about 1 month. Out of the box I had a difficult time getting a heart rate reading. I thought the manual was confusing (and I am an engineer). Some information about button names and functions was only in the quick start guide and not in the full manual. After a little time I mostly figured out the operation. Navigating the functions is now relatively easy although I still occasionally press a wrong button.
The features of the watch are nice. It does what I need. The training log storage has reasonable depth. Being able to split a session into "laps" is handy.
Twice, including out of the box, I have had problems getting a heart rate reading. That seemed to have been solved by pairing the belt with watch. When it is working the heart rate seems to be accurate. I have not seen any errant high or low readings. A few times, probably when my arm is out stretched, the watch and belt loose sync and the reading changes to "HR". If I bring the watch closer to the belt the heart rate readings return. I am not sure what the range is, but it must be near arms length.
I really dislike the LCD display. The contrast is very poor.
The tones (beeper) volume is very low and difficult to hear, especially when you are outdoors. Even indoors the alarm is difficult to hear.
The watch lens is a little soft and is easily scratched. I haven't yet tried polishing the lens to see if my scuff marks go away.
The belt supplied with the watch seems to work much better if you wet the electrodes or use a gel. While hiking I usually sweat enough to keep good contact. I have not had to re-wet the contacts after starting a hike.
One thing that influenced my decision to buy this unit was the user replaceable batteries. Other than turning the belt battery for re-syncing, I have not yet had to replace the batteries. I do not know how long they will last.
This is my first heart rate monitor. I have not used any other brands but will look at other options more seriously next time. For the money I expected more. I didn't expect the issues.

Don't know what more you could ask for to be honest. I've had my T3C for 2 months now and have used it every other day. Very accurate, easy read-out, perfect back light for night running, and looks good enough to wear to the office!

I use this for getting in shape. It works well. Selecting inputs and displays are not intuitive to begin with; but with a little reading in the booklet and some experience with the monitor, it gets quite easy to use. I purchased a plastic cover for the crystal as there are numerous reports of it scratching easily. I added a pc pod which makes uploading data a snap.

Comments about Suunto T3C Heart Rate Monitor - Men's:
I purchased on sale and overall I rally like this HRM, it's very solid and has held up well in numerous triathlons. I like Suunto's Training Effect concept and it's a relatively compact watch, suitable for everyday wear. I also like the fact that you can easily replace the battery, which I did after about 9 months of use.
My gripes include the easily scratched face (mine is scratched) and the cost of add-ons like the foot, gps, or cycle pods (didn't buy any). It takes some time to get used to the menus and button combinations and I can't get the HRM to work in the water.

Comments about Suunto T3C Heart Rate Monitor - Men's:
I've owned cheap HRM and expensive ones and so far I like this one the most. I like gadgets so it fits that bill without being overly impossible to use. Once the buttons are learned it become intuitive to use. The design is great. I like the look and get compliments all the time. The face does scratch easily but that can be fixed. Go to[@]and buy a face protector. This company make the best ones ever! I use them on all my electronics and swear buy them. So the scratch thing isn't an issue anymore. I find it accurate and easy to read and use while exercising. I love that PODs can be added for even more data. Overall this provides enough information for beginners and pros alike. The only thing I don't like is the band on the black polished one. It doesn't fit as well and can only be fit for one size. I wish it were adjustable so I could wear it over long sleeved clothing. This is a great watch/HRM

I use this for both running and bicycle. I bought the Bike Pod which works great. I'm not sure if it's the material i'm wearing or an actual problem with the device but i get inconstant to no heart rate readings with this unit, it's almost as though it needs to warm up so the 1st 5 mins of my sessions are off. When is finally catches up to my actual heart rate it frequently has a lower reading than my actual or it looses the signal all together.
Also, you can't get max heart rate info until you save the session, not a huge deal just irritating.
Other than that, the top one being a killer, it's a great unit, small, easy to use, i like the activity level tracker, keeps you motivated so it won't demote you.

Comments about Suunto T3C Heart Rate Monitor - Men's:
I was disappointed with this product. My first HR monitor was the Polar RS200 which broke and is now discontinued. I found the Suunto to be anything but user friendly and the user guide not easy to follow. I also tried to look up instructions on the company's website but found no help there either I think this product was capable of doing more than I was able to figure out and might be great for someone more gadget friendly than I.
I did find that my heart rate was read lower on the SUUNTO product than on my previous RS200 and my current Polar FT40. According to how I felt while using all products, I would say the SUUNTO was inaccurate. Also, the SUUNTO doesn't show your heart rate on the cardio machines at the gym which isn't a total loss but something to keep in mind.

Comments about Suunto T3C Heart Rate Monitor - Men's:
This watch was a gift and recommended by the staff at the store. I've never used a HRM before so don't have anything to compare it to. The HRM functions seem to work very well, the heart rate always acquires a signal and after a few passes through the manual and playing with the watch it seems very full featured and I like what it offers. My only complaint is with the poorly labeled buttons, labeling so small they may as well not be labeled, and the quality of the display. The display is a little difficult to read, the night light feature looks like the brightness of a watch 20 years ago, and the display scratches easily. If this had the screen of a timex, and the indiglo feature, and a couple more buttons to make navigation more intuituive, it'd be a 5 star review.
