i am very picky about what i wear. this jacket is every bit as good as the more expensive companies manufacturing warm cycling/skiing jackets for a fraction of the cost. i bought this on a whim and am so pleased with my purchase. ive used this cycling and took a chance with it cross country skiing this past weekend in NM. i have had no issues after 10+ wears and a couple washes. i use a mild detergent on it and let it air dry. great buy - thanks once again REI for the great buy.

I bike to work. Its going to rain - i need a warm jacket that repels rain or is waterproof. i bought this one. it feels stiff. i've worn it about 10 times with a backpack on and the fabric on the back is pilling (sp? turning into little balls) everywhere - likely from my backpack, but hey: that's biking! many of us use backpacks! the backpack sits right on the side pockets so they are basically useless. i originally liked the pockets but if i can't use them... well. the stitching around the zippers is pokey and uncomfortable. i also don't trust that the back of the jacket will actually repel water: it might turn into a sponge. i will likely return this jacket. sigh.
