Vasque Aether Tech shoes walk the line between full-bore trail runner and lightweight trainer, allowing you to hit those trails as fast as you can.

  • Highly breathable mesh nylon uppers feature synthetic nubuck and welded thermoplastic urethane (TPU) overlays for structure and pronation stability
  • Boa Closure System® uses a continuous cable lacing system to eliminate pressure points and offer a glovelike fit
  • With a simple crank of the tongue-mounted knob, you can quickly and evenly lace and unlace; system will not loosen and never needs retying
  • Nylon linings wick moisture away from your feet and dry quickly to keep feet comfortable
  • Removable dual-density EVA footbeds offer cushioning
  • Single-density EVA midsoles have high rebound EVA inserts in heels and forefeet for enhanced cushioning

    I just returned from a trip to Whistler where I wore these shoes hiking on two consecutive days. Day 1 was a 13 mile hike (Singing Pass to Musical Bumps) and it rained the entire day. Day 2 was a 7 mile hike (Joffre Lakes) and it rained again. The trails were mixed-terrain including groomed paths, rocks, boulders, mud and roots. The shoes were fantastic through it all. They shed mud, provided great traction and fully dried out over night. They are not waterproof but I wore a pair of SmartWool socks and was never uncomfortable. I was nervous about the lacing system but never thought about it until the end of the hike when I could just reach down and pull the knob to loosen the shoes - perfect.

    This shoe is fantastic for casual wear, very light trail hiking, and ESPECIALLY for trail running. Stay away from the really wet trails, but otherwise this shoe is perfect. I don't know why more shoe companies aren't including the BOA system of lacing. This is the best addition to footwear I have ever seen. Overall-- awesome shoe. Fit, ruggedness, and traction are great... but the BOA is what sets this apart.
