Comments about REI Traverse Pack - Women's - '08 Overstock:
this pack is awesome, there is a lot of storage space and many pockets. The straps are in the right place and fit nicely. I have used this pack on many trips including a 3 month long field season, hiking everyday, all day. There is plenty of room for two 2-liter camelbacks and all other necessary gear. The waterproofing is a little misleading in that only the zippers are waterproof so the bag still gets wet when it rains, but if you can tolerate that than this is definitely a good buy.

Comments about REI Traverse Pack - Women's - '08 Overstock:
I used this as my day pack while travelling through India, Viet Nam, and Laos. It's best features are a substantial hip belt and chest strap that take all the weight off your shoulders. Very comfy! You usually don't get this kind of support from a small pack. In addition, the zippers have rubber seals and a protective over flap that keeps out the rain and makes it a bit harder for pick pockets to score. I'm not a huge fan of the pocket/inner space configeration, but it's functional. It always takes time to adjust to a new packing system when you have to give up the old.

Comments about REI Traverse Pack - Women's - '08 Overstock:
I've used this pack for international travel, work, weekend overnight trips, and hauling climbing gear.
It fits under the plane seat and is comfortable to wear. It comfortably fit my laptop, books, travel documents, a small purse, iPod, headphones, snack, water bottle and a fleece.
It also is the perfect size for a weekend getaway where you only want to bring one bag - I've never had trouble fitting things in this bag.
The zippers can be hard to undo with one hand but are fine otherwise.
I've had this almost a year now and it still looks brand new!
There is a super convenient pocket on the waist strap that is the perfect size for a small cell phone, keys, or chapstick.
While it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some other packs, you can't beat the price!

Comments about REI Traverse Pack - Women's - '08 Overstock:
Have had this daypack for a year now. I once went on a weekend trip to NYC and packed everything including a sleeping bag in here, and then carried it around all day long. I have used it as a day pack for a month out in the desert hiking, on numerous other trips, and it is my backpack for school, carrying my computer and papers to class and lab. Waterproof through bits of rain; haven't actually carried it in a downpour though.
Things to improve: more pockets? Though as it is, it gets the job done, but there are packs out there that do have more bells and whistles. Sometimes it doesn't get great ventilation along my back. Now that it is in overstock and cheaper, definitely worth getting. This pack still has several years of life left in it for me.

I'm a larger woman and the pack is adjustable in many different ways, so size wasn't an issue at all. This would still fit a tiny person, though.

I needed a new day pack so I decided to order this one with my dividend check. Perfect size for what I need; I love all the different pockets. I am, however, befuddled as to why not all of the zippers are waterproof. There is a main compartment, mid-sized compartment, and 2 smaller compartments. 2 of the zippers are water-proofed but the other 2 are not. Good color; good fit. So far, I love the pack!

Comments about REI Traverse Pack - Women's - '08 Overstock:
I am 5'7" and have a long torso. The waist belt for the pack did not sit low enough for it to function properly. So, I had to return it. Otherwise, I thought the pack had a good design for a daypack.

Comments about REI Traverse Pack - Women's - '08 Overstock:
This is a roomy daypack that has lots practical pockets. However, not all the zippers are waterproof. The main zipper is not but it has a flap. If the flap is not folded over the zipper, water will seep in the pack through the zipper. When the main zipper is closed, the flap tends to flip over. So, watch out in the rain!

Bought this for my 12 year old son on a thre day camping trip. It was just the right size for him and his gear. Its a great starter pack. Though will probably have to get him a bigger pack after this summers growth spurt. Otherwise, great pack. lots of storage.
