After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

Comments about Novara Metro Bike - 2009:

What a pleasure to ride this bike! I purchased the Metro for my husband and enjoying riding it so much that I plan on purchasing one for myself.
The price is right for what you get. Riding on pavement, in gravel, on hard tack, grass and the Boise greenbelt a very pleasurable experience. The bike performed above my expectation everytime. We ride at least an hour six days a week and always do a long ride on Sunday up to 20 miles. With these bikes I am confident time and distance will increase.

We are in our sixties and enjoy our outings tremendously. Looking forward to doing our first Century Ride. Moving from casul cyclist to avid cyclist as the time goes by. Can't wait to retire!

This bike is comparable with the Corsa which received great reviews. We chose the Metro based on color.

Comments about Novara Metro Bike - 2009:

I don't drive a car, haven't since June of 2003. I need a series of great bikes for different uses but this one covers a variety of types of uses. It looks great (in blue anyway), is fun to ride and isn't too expensive. It can be a work horse for hauling lots of groceries with a trunk rack with or without pannier bags.

Comments about Novara Metro Bike - 2009:

My husband brought me into REI and bought the Norvara Metro for me for our 17th wedding anniversary. I am a suburban stay at home mom. We have two little ones who ride behind me in a bike trailer just about everyday over miles of paved greenbelts all over our neighborhood. I am 5'3 and bought the small frame, which fits me perfectly. A Marin mountain bike was also in the running on sale also at [$] with the coolest paint job, thumb shifters, better components, and hydrolic brakes, but I rode both around and around in the store, and felt that this bike was as good or better. I wasn't sure that I would like the grip shift, having never seen them before we entered the store and only owning a road bike before this, but I love them. They are completely easy to use. The feel and design of the handgrips are so comfortable. They are wide, have just enough ribbing to create some texture for a good hold but nothing that will bother your skin or the nerves in your hands after more than an hour of riding. I also had never owned or had seen a bike with a shock absorber in the seat tube before, and it gives such a smooth ride. We go over plenty of curbs and through grass and over tree roots, and I do not have to stand up at all to handle the bumps. The saddle itself is very comfortable. The bike has a very simple paint design, classic and sleek. I ride 5-6 days a week with my kids and this has been the perfect hybrid bike for me and the kind of riding I do.

Comments about Novara Metro Bike - 2009:

Bought this bike as I wanted to start biking to work more often. It is a world of difference from an older mountain bike I was using. Extremely comfortable, and the ride is sweet and smooth. My commute is only about 5 miles each way, but boy it's been perfect for what I was looking for. Bike handles well on sharp turns, and just a really nice overall hybrid bike for the casual cyclist. Price is just right too.
