Comments about Garmont Mega-Ride G-Fit Randonee Boots - Men's:
I have mostly used these boots on BC and climbing trips on Mt. Hood and Mt. Shasta. I generally demand a pretty stiff and responsive boot. I also don't feel like hoofin' up a couple thousand feet in my Langes. The Megaride has impressed me in both respects. If you primarily care about the down, the Garmont Endorphin or Adrenaline might be better for you. But if you want up hill ease (these boots are HALF the weight of my Langes) and downhill performance (in soft snow I can charge almost as hard on these bad boys as my Langes) then the Megaride is a good choice.
One thing about these boots is that they run pretty narrow. I usually wear a 26.5 but at the time all REI had was a 26 so I got them anyway. (26 and 26.5 for Garmont are the same shell size, just a different liner size. After you thermo mold the liners, there is no noticeable difference between the two sizes). I have a medium wide foot and I had to get the boots pressed to give me a little more space in the forefoot. Remember when you get a BC boot that you'll be in it all day. Performance is important, but comfort is key. If you have a wide foot and you don't want to have additional work done to make the boots fit, you might look at some Scarpas or something.
However, if you can get the fit right, there is no BC boot out there that is better than the Megaride!
