    This is my first post in 10 years as an avid REI customer. THAT IS HOW BAD THESE SHOES ARE. I am writing from an internet kiosk in Colombia just so that no one else makes the same mistake I did and gets stuck with an inferior product while on the road. I bought these shoes several months ago as allpurpose hikers for my year long trip through S. America. They were light and comfortable but the brand was new. I trusted REI on it and bought them. BIG MISTAKE. The first trial hike I took back home the shoelaces stripped. The shoes were comfortable so I bought replacement laces and stuck with them. Upon first rain down in S. America my feet were soaked. Whatever waterproof material these are made with is absolutely horrible. Water soaks through quickly, they dont breath in the heat, and take forever to dry. In addition the shoes wear increadibly quickly. I hope to get a visitor from the states soon so that I can send these back to REI.
