Comments about Sierra Designs Hurricane HP Rain Pants - Men's:
We bought two pairs of these pants figuring that a big name like Sierra Designs would know about quality. In the first 2 weeks of use ALL 6 zippers jammed. All 3 on 2 pairs of pants.. Unbelieveable. Can we get a clue people? Keep costs down, yes, but there is a minimum!

Comments about Sierra Designs Hurricane HP Rain Pants - Men's:
The good news: Nice and light, pack up small, good price. Seem to breathe pretty well if it's not raining (never wore them in the rain, so can't comment on that).
The bad news: Not very durable. I've owned them for over a year, and have worn them fewer than 10 times. In that time both leg zippers jammed, and one broke (sent it back for repair). Now the seam-sealing tape is pulling away along one inseam. I'm sure SD would repair it, but why bother? I'm bringing them back to REI.

Comments about Sierra Designs Hurricane HP Rain Pants - Men's:
I got these because they were cheap and it wasn't going to rain too much when I backpacked in Mexico. I wanted a backup in case of a sudden downpour in the jungle, but I wasn't willing to spend money that didn't need to be spent. The bag that it came in is as small as a digital camera and the pants are extremely light weight.
The first time that it did rain in Mexico it rained for two days straight. Within an hour I was pretty bummed because my legs were damp and the pants didn't breathe well at all. To make a long story short, those were a long, wet two days.
Just the other day I took them back out and ran around in the rain with them on just to see if it was initial bad luck, or if the pants really weren't that hott. Sure enough, just walking to the mailbox and back I found my shorts pretty damp and my legs were full of sweat. I think I'm going to upgrade to the Ultra Lights from REI and take the extra $20 hit. At least I'll be dry.

Comments about Sierra Designs Hurricane HP Rain Pants - Men's:
I have used these pants in both the SE mountains and the desert - Grand canyon, Escalante canyons - and they do the trick. I use them as a protection layer over my base layer, and if needed, over my base and long pants. They are a value priced component of my light weight system. Small and light enough that they are always in my pack lid, along with my Precip jacket. The ankle zippers allow these to be put on or taken off with your shoes on. They are no frills (1 pocket, no belt loops), so this may be a drawback to those of you who are willing to add weight for features. I do not feel the need for the added weight, since I can stash my camera in the pocket, but getting to my map (normally carried in a back pocket) is more difficult. Sacrifices like this are acceptable to me to keep my base weight under 12 lbs.

Comments about Sierra Designs Hurricane HP Rain Pants - Men's:
Let me start by saying these are 10x better than the jacket. That being said, the jacket is terrible.
I just finished using these during a rainy trip in the Smokies. The weather was cool so I didn't have the problems with breathability that other reviewers have had. However, because of their reviews I will think twice before wearing these in warm weather.
Even after climbing over fallen trees and climbing around blocked trails the pants held up. After sliding down rocks the pants held up. The pants are pretty durable. They also fit well over long underwear and shorts. The lack of pockets is somewhat annoying, but judging by the pockets on the jacket that might not be a bad thing.
I'd say if you can find them on sale or use a coupon they're a pretty decent purchase. For the full price you can probably find something more breathable, but like I said I didn't experience problems with that so I can't comment.

Comments about Sierra Designs Hurricane HP Rain Pants - Men's:
PURCHASED THESE PANTS FOR USE IN ALASKA AND TETON AREA. THE FIT WAS ROOMY BUT THE CONSTRUCTION WAS VERY POOR. THE SEAMS STARTED TO PULL APART AND SOON THE CROTCH OPENED UP DURING SECOND BACK COUNTRY TRIP. THE PANTS ALSO TRAPPED IN QUITE A BIT OF BODY HEAT. FELT LIKE I WAS IN A LATEX SUIT. THE ONE POSITIVE... THE BITING INSECTS COULD NOT BITE THROUGH THE MATERIAL.
