Comments about Arc'Teryx Venta AR Jacket - Men's:
I did quite a bit of research on Arc'Teryx softshells. There weren't that many reviews on this jacket being that it is fairly new to market. Normally I wait for more reviews on something like this but I have bought Arc'Teryx jackets in the past and figured that this should be a slam-dunk in terms of quality and fit. I was only half right unfortunately.
I should have asked Santa for longer arms for Christmas. I believe that Arc'Teryx sized this a tad longer in comparison to their older jackets. I don't think Arc'Teryx has ever offered "Tall" sizes and I know that a number of people in the past have complained about the sleeves being too short and I am guessing this is the end result. This soft shell jacket absolutely fits just like a motorcycle jacket. Form fitting to the body and long in the arms. I have come across a previous review mentioning this particular issue so I know I'm not alone on this.
Now with that being said, I liked this jacket so much that I almost considered getting it tailored to fit my arm length better. However because all the seams are welded including the leading edge of the cuff, I knew that the finished cuff wouldn’t be the same and for the price (not cheap), I should not have to spend extra to make it fit better for this kind of jacket.
All in all, sleeve fitment aside, you do get what you pay for on this jacket. All three different types of Gore Windstopper fabric are seam welded together which creates a well-designed, comfortable and streamlined soft shell jacket. It has the classic Arc’Teryx form fitting and gusseted arm feel that I like. It is incredibly light, cold resistant, comfortable (especially the neck cuff) and breathable. The exterior feels and appears to be durable. One of the main reasons why I picked this particular Arc’Teryx soft shell jacket was because of the Gore Windstopper. Keep in mind that there isn’t a lot of loft to keep you warm, so layer (if you can) for warmth if you’re planning on being stationary in the cold. Other than that, it would have been a perfect “go to” jacket if it hadn’t been for the sleeve fitment.
I give it 3 out of 5 stars. 2 stars off for sleeve fitment and the fact I will be returning this item because of it.

Comments about Arc'Teryx Venta AR Jacket - Men's:
I've used the Venta hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing. It is high quality and has taken mild abuse well (e.g., branches, rocks). The jacket is not warm and must be worn with layers appropriate for the outside temperature and winds. Neither is the jacket waterproof, so an outside WP layer is necessary for that type of protection. Previous writer's comment about a *motorcycle jacket fit* is accurate, but I've longer arms...
