Comments about REI Muir Woods Fleece Jacket - Women's:
This jacket is so warm, soft and comfortable. The fit is perfect and I love the adriatic blue color. It's a great stand alone jacket for cold days and great for layering underneath a heavier jacket/coat for extremely cold weather. I haven't worn it in wet weather, so I haven't gotten a chance to test its water repellent feature yet. Too bad there's no hood on the jacket.

Comments about REI Muir Woods Fleece Jacket - Women's:
I had the old version from 2002 (I believe) and I loved it. I wore it to the point of holes in the elbows. I just received this one in the mail last week and the fabric is drastically different. The outer surface seems more durable and possibly more rain resistant. The inside is very soft and comfortable. I wore it for nordic skiing yesterday and it was the perfect temperature with long underwear. It's great for layering or as a spring jacket by itself.
The Muir Woods jacket has never been a winter jacket by itself and still isn't, but I combined it with a couple wool layers and wore it in 0 degree weather. Also, in REI jackets and tops, I always take a medium (I'm 5'10" and long limbed) and this was no different. The sleeves are the perfect length and so is the abdominal length.
Bravo for the recycled fabric, too!!!

Comments about REI Muir Woods Fleece Jacket - Women's:
Its great on its own for cooler days and not too bulky to layer under other coats for very cold days! Super soft on inside. Just the right thickness. Pocket lining is super soft. I usually get a large but the medium just fit sleeves aren't too long. The water repellent works as well as fleece would good for repelling snow =o]

Comments about REI Muir Woods Fleece Jacket - Women's:
I am so disappointed in what REI's done to this jacket I could cry. I have three separate colors of the old (2006-2007) Muir Woods, which was a heavier, sturdier version of the Woodland jacket. I've been doing a lot of hiking lately so I went to my local REI outlet to buy another trusty Muir Woods...only to find that not only has it been restyled into a dramatically different (and much inferior, in my opinion) fabric, but the fit has been drastically altered. I couldn't even get it zipped up.
Come on, REI. If you're going to make something a completely different item of clothing? At least change the title of it. I'm just glad I didn't online-order a Muir Woods - as I online-ordered two of my other "old" Muir Woods - only to find this disappointing jacket arriving in the mail.

This was an award from my running club. Good choice. I use it after runs to keep warm as I chill down quickly when I stop moving. Fits well, not bulky. Could be used under raingear in bad weather.

Comments about REI Muir Woods Fleece Jacket - Women's:
I love the color (Adriatic) and the fit. The jacket is great for layering. It is warmer than it looks like it would be. I wore it running errands in 40 degree weather with just a thin performance top underneath and I was surprised to find out that it was only 40 degrees because I was so warm and comfortable. When it is colder than that I put a lightweight shell over it.
When I am actively hiking it is a little too warm over another layer unless the temperature is below freezing, but it is perfect to put on when we stop and I cool down.

my advice about size is to go with what your normal sweater size is. it is easy to layer with this true-to-size fit, and there is plenty of room.
i have even paired an outer shell with this and it works great. i'm very happy with it

This jacket is perfect for the suddenly changing Colorado weather! Water resistant does a wonderful job when caught in sprinkles/snow. Surprisingly warmer than I expected. Absolutely love this jacket!

Comments about REI Muir Woods Fleece Jacket - Women's:
I purchased this coat for a two week tent camping vacation. It's not very heavy but very comfortable. I was fine at 60 with a t-shirt underneath. One very nice thing about it is that you can stuff it wherever you want and it always looks wrinkle free when you put it back on. I don't know how that's possible but that has been my experience. It reminds me a tiny bit of Mr. Rogers. But that's OK. He was a good guy.

Great color and feel to the fabric. I'm quite tall with long arms and this fits nicely through the sleeves and torso without being too bulky.
