Comments about Patagonia R4 Jacket - Men's:
This is the warmest jacket that I have ever worn. When it gets cold outside, the wind definitely can multiply the misery. This jacket is windproof! I have no need for my two piece jacket anymore and can easily get through the winter months with this one. Though, it is pricey, it is the warmest fleece out there. It is supposed to fit somewhat snugly.

Comments about Patagonia R4 Jacket - Men's:
The temperature where I live is currently -2 degrees with a -23 degree windchill, and I'm still wearing this fleece and staying very warm! The wind is really blowing here right now and every part of my body is being affected by it, except for the parts being covered by this jacket. My entire torso remains very warm even under these severe conditions. Buy this fleece and you will not be disappointed!

Comments about Patagonia R4 Jacket - Men's:
I bought this jacket while Guiding in Colorado during the summer and attending college outside of Chicago the rest of the year. This jacket is absolutely BOMBPROOF when it comes to cold, windy conditions (such as on Michigan Avenue during winter in "the windy city"). You can wear an R4 in -20 degree weather with the wind beating on you and not feel a thing. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better, more lightweight, or more wearable winter layer.
Only 2 cautions: 1. it's SO warm you really shouldn't wear it skiing or hiking as it would cause your chest to catch on fire, but it's a great option for a basecamp layer or for wearing at the end of a cold hike.
And 2. it's pretty sturdy, doesn't fold down into a tiny package as do some low-end (and non-bombproof) fleeces.
But if you're looking for something to keep you incredibly warm while not adding tons of bulk, get it. You won't be sorry.

Comments about Patagonia R4 Jacket - Men's:
Great jacket! It has a windproof laminate so it's the jacket to wear in cooler, windy conditions. It's also pretty water resistant due to the laminate, but it's not a rain jacket, for obvious reasons.
The venting is rather nice, and works very well when you're going from hanging out in the snow, to hiking, to hanging around. You'll be using the vents to let some of that heat out.
A great jacket for on and off activity in cold environments, and for sitting around a chilly base camp or sporting event. It's a nice cross of technical and casual and can handle both.

This jacket is warm and windproof. Out in the open ocean on a boat at 30 mph, the wind has no chance getting through to you. It is pricey, but it performs!
