Comments about The North Face Chameleon Hydration Pack - 100 oz.:

Got this pack at an REI yard sale for a song, because owner #1 said it was uncomfortable, as do the majority of reviewers here. I'm not sure what the malfunction is, but this pack fits me like a glove. I am 5'9", 155lbs with an 18" torso, and I have none of the soreness or bruising that others report. I love the Nalgene bladder, the valve hasn't leaked a drop, and the magnetic keeper is genius. I like how the fabric loops on all the straps prevent flapping straps. The expandable panel is great for when I have to stash a jacket or if I'm packing gear for cooking a meal. I can fit my Jetboil inside with room to spare. The interior pockets hold a multi-tool, GPS, small binoculars, knife, compass, map, energy bars and packets of cocoa, cider, miso, or whatever else is on the menu. Things that aren't so great? Side pockets are hard to reach into with the pack on, and I have searched high and low for the advertised Hypalon lash points for trekking poles, and have concluded that they don't exist. There is an ice axe loop and 1 little bungee up high, but that setup isn't so good for poles. All in all, a great hydration pack that can handle a long day outside.

Comments about The North Face Chameleon Hydration Pack - 100 oz.:

I bought this pack based on price, and then got home and read reviews. Several people commented about the bag digging into their lower back, so I thought I would keep an eye on how it would effect my wife, the person wearing the pack. Just like the reviews here said, by the end of the first day, she had sore spots on her lower back where the pack was digging in. Will be returning after one day use.

Comments about The North Face Chameleon Hydration Pack - 100 oz.:

When i ordered this pack i was really excited but was suprised to find that it does have an internal frame. I experienced similar problems with the frame digging into my lower back. I have found with the pack completely stuffed full it pushes the bend of the frame more straight which helps ease the pressure it creates on my back, but is a downer because i hate carrying that much unless it is essential (the frame bends fairly easy but it springs back to its original shape)it would be less of a problem if you could remove the frame but from looking at it, it appears sewn in. Love everything about the pack except the comfort, i will be investing in another to replace it.

Comments about The North Face Chameleon Hydration Pack - 100 oz.:

The bag was very good in nearly all ways, but two: there are no outside loops for gear (very minor problem) and the hard frame that keeps the nice cool airflow dug into my lower back. By the end of the day, I had a bruise!

I changed every possible strap-tightening combination I could find and none worked. Perhaps it was just a bad fit for me, or that one bag was bent somehow?

      Service and delivery comments:

As usual, REI was awesome and the return was a snap.
