Comments about REI Generator Down Jacket - Men's:
I've had this jacket for over two years, and have used it camping and hiking from the Pacific Ocean to over 6000 feet in the Cascades and in between. Great for those chilly mornings and evenings. Makes a great pillow too. Doesn't bog you down (weight-wise) when packing it (although I wish it packed smaller), not too bulky or puffy when wearing it around town. Warm enough for Pacific Northwest winters.

Comments about REI Generator Down Jacket - Men's:
For 3-season trips, I pack only this jacket and a fleece bag liner instead of a sleeping bag when I use my camping hammock. It squishes down quite nicely, but holds heat very well. I've slept in freezing conditions this way, and hiked in near-zero conditions with no issues at all.
What I really like is that it is more like a down sweater, so it's not too bulky under a waterproof shell, and there's still room for layering underneath.
I have not tried it out in extremely high winds, or in precipitation beyond light snow. The shell itself seems very thin, so I've treated it carefully.

Comments about REI Generator Down Jacket - Men's:
This is a great jacket. I used this last year just for walking around town in Bend, OR and it was very warm. I just purchased my second jacket in a different color. It is very soft, extremely warm, and relatively durable. I gave 4 out of 5 stars because I have noticed the stitching around the fleece cuffs are giving way a bit. Other than that, the jacket is tip-top.

Comments about REI Generator Down Jacket - Men's:
First of all, this is a very nice jacket. So far, I have only used it about 10 times, with the coldest weather only getting down to 25 degrees F, and I must say, I was toasty warm. I could see wearing this in MUCH colder weather with only a t-shirt underneath. It is also the softest jacket I've ever owned as well being light, fluffy (but not too fluffy). I gave 4 stars out of 5 because I have noticed the stitching around the fleece cuffs are giving way a bit. Not a huge deal. Bottom line, this is a great jacket, especially for the money!

This is one of the most comfortable jackets I have ever put on and is the perfect around town winter jacket. You can't go wrong at this price.

Comments about REI Generator Down Jacket - Men's:
I've owned my jacket for about a year, and find it to be a great utility piece for Boston winters. I have big shoulders and a big stomach, so the jacket's boxy cut suits me well. It needs a little help on really windy days, but nothing more than a lightweight dressy sweater or casual microfleece underneath.
I don't miss having a hood, since this jacket isn't for ultra-cold situations anyway. However, it *would* be nice to have a two-way zipper so things wouldn't get bunched up while driving.
I find the jacket comfortable from 40 degrees down to the teens in light wind. When it's *really* cold and windy, I wear my much heavier and much more expensive Canada Goose jacket, which in turn is way too hot once it hits 40 degrees.
I would recommend this jacket as a fine and inexpensive all-around piece -- especially if you don't fit into tighter "athletic cut" outerwear.

I love this jacket! it feels like I'm wearing a sleeping bag! It would have been nice to have a hood. Other then that no problems.
The most comfortable and weightless jacket I've ever owned.
