    I have had this jacket for a couple months now and will be returning it. I am a heavy set guy around 5'10'.

    The best thing about this jacket is that it is very comfortable. It is like being wrapped in a soft sleeping bag. It has a nice look, its washable, and packs into a small included stuff sack. It is also very light.

    The bad part about this jacket is that it is not very warm at all. It is definitely not sufficient for Chicago winters. You can feel a cold hard wind and you will be wishing you had a warmer jacket. The bottom of the jacket feels a little tight when zipped.

    On a side note I went back to REI and bought the Mountain Hardware windstopper fleece and it is WAY warmer than this jacket. The Windstopper will also zip into a North Face or Colombia shell.

    I Just bought this jacket and took it out on a day hike to Alum Cave Bluffs in the GSMNP. The weather conditions were partly cloudy with snow flurries and 25 mph plus winds. I can only guess how cold it was but water drops from the top of the cave that fell on the jacket were frozen in just a few mintues. I had the jacket layered over expedition weight long underwear.
    The Camper jacket blocked the wind and water and kept me really warm in well below freezing temperatures. Its so light, comfortable and non restrictive I barely know it is there.
    The lining and shell of the Camper Jacket is made of Polyester instead of the usual nylon that is used on insulated jackets. I have heard Polyester is not as breathable as nylon but I didn't get too sweaty on the steepest portion of the trail and what little built up dried in no time at all.
    I really like the way the jacket looks. My only complaint is the lack of choice when it comes to colors, Black or Arbor? I bought the Arbor and it is okay but I would rather have it in a green or grey.
    I really cannot comment on durability as I have not had it for very long but my mothers new german shepard puppy tried repeatedly to tear my brand new jacket with his new needle sharp teeth and was unable to make even the smallest hole

      I got this jacket to replace a shelled fleece for all-around wear in fall and spring. The jacket has a nice full cut for my heavyset torso, drapes nicely, and is resistant to light rain. I wear it over a t-shirt or polo shirt only.

      This is *not* a serious winter jacket. I rate it as comfortable from 55 degrees down into the high 30s. But if it's cold enough for you to need gloves, it's probably too cold for this jacket.

      At that point, switch to the REI Generator Down Jacket (see my review), which is a solid, inexpensive choice for all but the coldest and windiest dry weather.
