Comments about Leki Enzian Antishock Trekking Poles - Pair - '07 Closeout:
I used this on a 16 mile day hike up then down 3-4000 ft of elevation in the mountains. It definitely kept some weight off of my feet and helped me hike without worrying so much about my footing so that I could enjoy the view. I've heard that anyone climbing Whitney is expected to use poles. The poles do come as a set by the way. I used gloves with mine but I'm guessing that if you don't wear gloves you might expect some chafing. They can be adjusted to the minimum length in order to tie them to your back. They do sort of get in the way when navigating through brush but I was able to just rest them on my shoulders facing upward while passing those areas. They also are great in saving your knees while descending as well. These would be most useful while backpacking due to the impact on the knees during the descent. It's nice to have the shock absorbers but when you're ascending, it would be nice if they didn't compress because you lose a tiny bit of your upward force.

These poles are excellent for day hiking use. They have enough shock absorption for an all day hike and a 30 lb. load. I purchased these as a replacement for another pair of LEKI poles that have been used and abused for 12 years. One word of caution-I got quite a bit of trash-talk from my hiking buddies for the flower design on the pole. Should've known since enzians are alpine flowers. My only real gripe is that the spring tension is hard to adjust and the directions on how to do this are unclear. Otherwise, these poles are a bargain for the price.

Comments about Leki Enzian Antishock Trekking Poles - Pair - '07 Closeout:
The poles are a great help when hiking as it gives extra "hands" when hiking. The poles are very stable and easy to adjust the length. The only "con" comment is that it is a little bit harder to adjust the anti-shock levels. Other than that....not complaints.
