With its spacious main compartment and ample pockets, our classic REI pack keeps gear organized for summer and winter hikes or adventures on campus.

  • Features surface-mounted front pocket buckle, simple daisy chain and two side pockets providing ample room for gear or books
  • Front pocket features a key clip and an organizer for pencils, pens, calculator, wallet, note pads and other essentials
  • Large internal hydration pocket holds almost any size reservoir (sold separately) and features exit port on top of pack
  • Molded foam backpanel is covered with a layer of suspension mesh that's cool and comfortable; plus, it sheds snow and leaves the dirt behind
  • Foam-padded, curved shoulder straps with sternum strap and comfort edge binding let you comfortably carry the load
  • Self-equalizing, foam-padded waistbelt wings wrap snugly around hips, adding comfort and stability on the trail
  • Side compression straps help secure and stabilize the load for skiing or hiking on uneven terrain
  • Includes a haul loop for easy grasping and an adjustable ice axe/tool loop to securely hold tools or poles

        I have used the Alpine 35 every workday (5 days/wk) for the last 2.5 years. I primarily use it to ruck around a 5 lb thermos, work gear, books, and often take it as my pistol bag. Regularly loaded with about 12-14 lbs of stuff it has proven most durable. There are close to no signs of wear and is pretty stain resilient (mine is bright red). It is spacious and I bought it for its pocket and lay-out similarities to my larger Kelty Redwing (2900). It easily fits 2-3 day loadout of clothes for car camping trips and the shoulder straps are heavily padded and comfortable. The only issue I have is that my upper shoulder adjustment straps are fading from gray to light gray but don't appear tattered or weakened (although I attribute this to hours and hours a month exposed to high altitude exposure in the CO sun). Interestingly, the red exterior is not faded in the least. Overall a great buy.
