Large platform Mallet 1 pedals from Crank Brothers are lighter and stronger than the Mallet C pedals of yesteryear.

  • Downhillers, freeriders and BMX riders will appreciate the easy target areas the large platforms provide for quick entries
  • Four-sided entry makes these pedals a snap to engage with standard Crank Brothers cleats (included)
  • Pedal bodies are now extruded 6061-T6 aluminum that is CNC-formed (instead of cast), for lighter weight and increased bash resistance
  • Twelve set screw pins replace the teeth plates of the older Mallet C and provide adjustable traction and reduced weight
  • Spindle is lighter, stronger and more streamlined
  • Needle bearings (instead of bushings) on the inboard side of the pedals help reduce friction
  • Mallet 1 is 30 grams lighter than the old Mallet C

    After taking a long hiatus from riding, I am back in the saddle and these pedals are a welcome surprise.
    I came from the minimalist/lighter/faster/farther mind-set but I would have loved these pedals even on the race bike.
    Long road to fire-road to low-tide beach hammers are my present rides and the Crank Bros Mallets are comfortable, efficient and easy to transition in and out of.
    For the Sunday ride to the market a pair of Vans and off I go.
