Comments about Ortlieb Office Bag - Large:
I am a huge fan of Ortlieb panniers, having been introduced to them on European cycle tours. They come as standard equipment with most bike rentals. And no wonder: they are high quality, durable, supremely usable bags with tremendous capacity. It seems no matter how much you stuff into them, they can take more, and keep everything dry and organized. But they are expensive, and so, it took me quite some time to get together the money to buy one myself to use on my own commuter bike. When I had finally saved up my $200+, I went to my local bicycle store to buy myself an Ortlieb Bike Packer Classics. But the store also sold the Office Bag, and I thought, hey, maybe that's better for me, since I carry a lot of documents back and forth from my office. Big mistake. Unlike the Packer Classic, this bag is very poorly designed. If the Office Bag is even slightly over-filled, the bag will not close, and you have to leave it open to the elements, which here in Toronto means rain and snow. It is impossible to position the bag securely on your rear bike rack without your heel hitting it as you pedal. If you move the bag well to the rears of your rack so your heel can clear the bag, the bag becomes unbalanced. Then one and sometime both of the clamps that hold the bag to the rack come undone - a very dangerous situation if you commute in heavy traffic as I do. The clamps that hold the bag to the rack have also come undone on me when I go over bumps in the road. I'm not talking off road or huge potholes here, just the kind of good bump one experiences regularly on city roads. In one instance, I went over a bump in an intersection and the bag fell right off. I had to screech to a halt and tear back to get my bag as the light turned red. Just so you don't think I'm mechanically inept and just haven't set the bag up properly, I went back to my local bike shop -- the commuting specialists[@] in Toronto, a very reputable shop -- and told them the problems I was having with the bag. They adjusted the bike and the rack for me, but there was no improvement.I'm a cyclist with over 35 years experience with commuter bikes, off-road bikes, and road bikes. I take cycling vacations every year. I've tried out a lot of gear over the years and this product is the worst; a very expensive mistake that can make your bike ride unsafe.Don't buy this bag. Go for the Ortlieb Bike Packer Classic, which is truly a great bag that will last a lifetime.

Comments about Ortlieb Office Bag - Large:
Having been using this bag for two and a half months, I would say I couldn't be happier. Yes it's pricey, but it definitely seems like a product that I could still be using six years from now. The hooks that connect it to the bike rack are a little weird looking when carrying it around campus, but it's a small price to pay.

This is a very nice bag. It easily fits by Lenovo T61, mounts quickly and securely to my bike, and seems very rugged (haven't owned it long enough to testify as to long-term durability).

If you are looking for a bombproof, year round bag for commuting, but this! I have used it for a couple months now and it is secure, dry, and durable. The cost is a little high but, well worth it. I carry a laptop in a sleeve, a lunch, and a change of clothes, and everything fits though it is a little tight. You will not be dissapointed.

Comments about Ortlieb Office Bag - Large:
The top-end of commuter bags. Perfect for a change of clothes, bike stuff (pump, lock, etc.) a laptop and 1 or 2 files. Completely waterproof and durable; easy to mount/dismount. The reflectors are excellent. I actually have two - the one I use everyday and a second one I carry twice a week to ferry clothing back and fourth to work.
Only one small complaint: The handle securing system is such that it allows the carrying handles to flop around. Maybe it's just me, but I can't get the handle webbing straps to stay inside the plastic carrying handle thingy. No big deal, doesn't detract from the bags performance, just a very small annoyance.
Buy it if you want a worry-free bag that will last 10 years. Buy a cordura/nylon bag if you're ok with buying a new bag every couple of years.

Comments about Ortlieb Office Bag - Large:
This bag is the perfect solution for the office bike commute. It is sturdy and dry, and it holds a computer, a couple of inches of files, rain gear, lunch, flip-flops, and more. The mounting system is pure genius. It pops right on and comes right off with one hand, yet it is very secure while riding, even when loaded. The dry opening is easy to use and kept my stuff dry in a downpour. The initial setup was a tad frustrating because the instructions were poor and parts of the actual mounting system were different from the directions.

Comments about Ortlieb Office Bag - Large:
I love its design. All I have to do is lift the bag up and move right and it's off the rack -- so less attention needed. It's unlike the Arkel commuter bag [...] where you have to spend ~5-10 seconds hooking and unhooking it -- and that hook constantly pokes my butt which is annoying. Another thing is I give thanks to their heavenly interior design. No backpacks that I've used can compare to the interior design of this thing. If you are an office worker/student buy this. Another awesome feature is that it is waterproof. It's waterproof on the outside, and looks waterproof from the inside too.

I've been using this bag for commuting to work with for about a month now. I have to carry a laptop back and forth every day, and I have no concerns carrying it in this bag. I use a neoprene sleeve to put the laptop in inside the bag, and it protects it well. The waterproof nature of the Office Bag allows me to ride in the rain if I so choose. The mounting system is great, it's very secure on the rack of my bike, as well as being very easy to clip on and remove. It's a little expensive, but worth not having to worry about rain and your bag falling off.

Comments about Ortlieb Office Bag - Large:
This bag has basically allowed me to bike commute every day. I did a lot of research and determined that it was the only pannier/bag that I needed for my commute.
What I like:
It holds a 17" laptop (just needs a 17" laptop sleeve - NOT the Ortleib sleeve which is only 15" - incase has one that works well for me) and a change of clothes (and shoes!) and a small jacket, so I can ride to work, work out at the gym and ride home. Despite all of the stuff, the papers that get stored in the organizer pockets don't look like they took a tumble in my backpack like they used to.
I've been pleasantly surprised how easy it is to mount and re-mount on the rack (I just have a standard-issue Topeak Explorer) and that the strap that comes with it makes it pretty comfy to carry off-rack.
The thing is also pretty sturdy and appears to be pretty water resistant with the roll closure (although admittedly there's not much rain here so I haven't tested it yet).
What I don't like:
It cost a lot for a single bag (fortunately, riding with just one bag seems to work just fine balance-wise).
It takes a little time to figure out how things should fit (Do I put them in pockets? How do I use the spacer? Will this fit at all?)
Once things are in the bag, finding something in a full bag is difficult.
After some use, the silver covering gets less shiny in the places where the top rolls...but this is pretty minor.

Comments about Ortlieb Office Bag - Large:
I bought this bag on recommendation of a bike commuter buddy. I am entirely impressed at the overall ruggedness and waterproofness of this bag. I showed the bag to my commuter buddy who has the older model and he said "Wow that one looks a lot more durable than mine!" The interior has two organizer pockets that fit an assortment of school/office supplies such as calculators, pens, etc. It is large enough for me to carry several 1" binders and two textbooks plus rain gear and a tool kit. The attachment system is second to none. After it locks into place it is not going anywhere. I have hit potholes and rode off curbs and the bag didn't even rattle. I live in Humboldt county where it rains constantly and this bag has been irreplaceable for getting what I need to school without it getting soaked. The price is a little high but if it gets my stuff to school without getting wet I'll pay the higher price. The only problems with this bag is that you cannot remove the organizer pocket and that the shoulder strap is kinda uncomfortable but those are only minor.
