Comments about Garmin Forerunner 405 Heart Rate Monitor - Green:
What a great upgrade from the 305! About a year ago, I purchased a 305 and have since been using it regularly; I was excited when Garmin came out with the 405 as the 305 is really bulky. However, many reviews of the 405 basically panned it, so I was skeptical. After using the 405 several times, I can honestly say that I don't know what all the fuss is about. It takes a little while to get used to the touch bezel, but once you do, it's really easy to use. The watch has all the features I used on my 305: speed, pace, distance, time, elevation, virtual trainer, workouts, etc. Admittedly, you have to reconfigure the display screens when switching from biking to running, but that is a small price to pay considering the reduction in size. Additionally, it loads satellites much faster than the 305. My only complaint is that the ant stick is slow to upload from the watch, but it is wireless, so I guess that goes without saying. Battery life is adequate, especially given the size reduction. I have heard that Garminconnect is lame, so I have been using Motionbased, which I really like because it has elevation correction. As a training tool, it's invaluable.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 405 Heart Rate Monitor - Green:
Right out of the box, this GPS watch was easy to setup and get running with. It is very accurate and seems to hold signals well. Heart rate monitoring is flawless with quick connect to the watch. The Garmin ANT Agent software works seamlessly with the wireless connection and gives a vivid read out of the workout. The 8 hour battery supply is usually enough unless you do long days of biking. This watch is a great training aid!
Service and delivery comments:
Got great next day delivery! Nice after waiting forever to have the watch released for retail sales. :)

Originally, I thought I had seen this Garmin advertised as a women's specific one. This is not the case. It did not fit my wrist at all, but it did fit my husbands. Functions are great, but the other Garmins seem to fit my small wrist better.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 405 Heart Rate Monitor - Green:
As a female athlete and 305 user, I couldn't wait for this lighter, better fitting model to arrive. Unfortunately I don't think Garmin has worked out all the kinks yet on this model. Although it was MUCH more comfortable, I found the bevel screen annoying and hard to control. I was willing to work with this, but the darn thing kept blanking out in the middle of my workouts. I had to keep re-booting to get it to power up. After 1 week and several attempts to get it to stay on, I had to bag it. It went back to the store. Since I sold my 305 [...] I am not Garmin-less for the first time in years. :(

I dreamed about owning this watch and went to pick one up today at REI. I couldn't even get it on my wrist!!! It was at its last link and still was too tight.
I guess Garmin designed this for small or medium wrists. I'm 6'3" and 250 pounds (OK - a little fat, but even if were to lose weight, it still wouldn't fit :))
What was Garmin thinking?

I have been focused on personal fitness for most of my adult life- retired Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) (Secial Warfare & Navy Diver), now just a person striving for physical fitness. I work out 4-5 days a week. Recently had a major heart attack and had to buy a HRM. This Garmin is perfect. It is flexible enough to use for Multi-sports and simple enough to set up and read. Only con: A bit complicated to set up the Computer pairing capability.
I would recommend this tool to others.

This watch has taken my training to a new level. The virtual partner and simple average time per mile is worth every penny. Watch fits just fine I'm 6 foot and 185 and have plenty of room each way. Works well even in some pretty dense woods. I love this watch and don't know what I would do with out it. If your a runner and like to keep track of your time, workouts, intervals, calories burned, speed and courses this is a must own well worth[$]bucks. Hands down a dream to own.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 405 Heart Rate Monitor - Green:
Pretty easy to use. Can be challenging to get it to pair with your computer the first time around. Biggest gripes: takes awhile to get a signal, completely inaccurate for trail running (I did 17.5 on the Wildwood trail which is marked every 1/4 and it showed I had done 13.2), elevation is inaccurate regardless of what you are doing (you could go out for a 5 mile run on flat ground and it will tell you you have gained 600 or 1000 feet), marginally accurate at times on road (I did a 5.4 mile loop that I know like the back of my hand, and one day I came home and it showed I had done 4.9 miles - somehow dropped 1/2 mile in there for no apparent reason), difficulty keeping a signal near bridges (this might be normal for GPS units).Heartrate works well, calorie info seems accurate, pacing feature and virtual partner and great. Nice to be able to setup three individual screens of info that you want to see - it's all customizable. When you spend [$] you expect that the features they build to be accurate. Elevation gain should not even be a feature on this watch b/c it is so inaccurate. I wasn't expecting the accuracy of a handheld unit, but the inaccuracy is truly staggering (my 17.5 mile run on the wildwood was a gain of 16,000 ft according to the watch!).

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 405 Heart Rate Monitor - Green:
Okay I had issues with the 305 with HR monitor, it lost data when battery went dead, and transfering data was an issue. I thought that was bad...so I returned the 305 for the 410 paid the extra money for the 410. The (first) 410 program and workout data did not load at all, so I had to take it back. Now I have over a months worth of workout data on this new 410 and it will not sync with the software....aaaahhhhrg. Garmin online is unreachable and unreliable. I have lost over approximately 600 miles!!! of workout data because I put my undying faith into a product that has obviously let many athletes down by the google reviews on the products. I just wish I would have listened to the reviews and really believed them before I bought it. I don't really know what product is next for me but it will not be from Garmin.
