Used it on my completed thru of the AT in 08 and on the whole trip I found that I was often reluctant to take it out because I knew that unless it was a really cold rain it would be much too warm to wear this rain coat. I found I would rather be wet than over heating in my jacket. However, it DID keep you dry during hiking when it was a cold rain so I was happy to have it when I needed it. I just wouldn't choose to wear it during a light sprinkle, just a torrential downpour. This jacket does have nice long zips under the arms. I primarily used this coat to keep me warm in cold and windy weather. It fit well enough to hike in without being too big or small that is twisted around your torso and constricted you and it fit well over layers.

This shell did not stand a chance against the wet season of Costa Rica. It provides about 10 minutes of water resistance before letting in the deluge. Not recommended for anything more than a dash into a rain shower.
