This is a very good value in topographic mapping. It contains the entire US in topographic format. Based on comparing known trails to the map I have been impressed with the detail and accuracy. Roads seem to be in the correct place, trails and streams are also where they should be. Be forewarned that it will take some time for the uninitiated to learn how to use this software. The maps print in brilliant crisp detail. I have no trouble loading track logs and waypoints from my Magellan Explorist 210. i have also downloaded some sattelite images and USGS topos from Delorme, and they are excellent quality, but can be expensive. I do wish that Delorme Mappping would be compatible with Garmin and Magellan. It is my opinion that Delorme Map software is far superior to anyone elses even NG which I also own.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    This software not the simplest mapping software to use, but it is the best especially for the price range. Because of the many things it can do, there is a learning curve for the first-time user. Once you get in the groove, you will never look back. If you want a simple plug-and-play, no frills desktop interface, this isn’t it. If you are looking to plan, track and manage complex mapping functions, you won’t do any better for the money especially if you consider that you can download an unlimited number of Hi-Res over-head black-and-white and color photo’s (DOQQ’s) for only [$] per year.Finally about the accuracy: my experience was exactly the opposite of Trail Guide’s from Post, Oregon. I do some rather aggressive hunting that takes me way off the beaten path. Every other program I used was off, especially when I moved farther away from the more populated areas. (Most other programs had me right in the middle of the Ohio River when I was actually traveling on a rough gravel road on the bank. Scary!) This was the only program that was dead on every time, and the DOQQ’s added an extra layer of security. Perhaps the data is better for my part of the world . . .

    Incorerect data on program

        I purchased the Topo Version 7 in late Sept/early Oct. Unfortunately I did not get around to using it to map my local area which I had done on other versions and map programs. When I input the Coordinates for my home, I found the program put me nearly 5000 ft. to the SW. I started comparing coordinates from other map programs including Google Earth and found similar issues.Further study found local roads in my area mis named, incorrect locations. Delorme refused to provide me with a coorected verion or reimbrus me because I had the program more than30 days. I certainly would not recommend this program to be purchaded by anyone. Lesson learned for me is to compare data with other programs or/and,USGS paper maps before the short return period runs out.

          I use it for hunting/fishing/hiking/camping/traveling and just about everything else. Comes with a certificate for satellite or areal imagery that overlays with the maps-- transfers perfectly to delorme gps.
