Comments about Timbuk2 Commute Computer Bag - Medium:
I've had several computer cases/bags and this is the most practical. Getting the computer out to go through airport security is a breeze. It has great organization in the main compartment and makes things easy to get to. I have had it long but the one thing I would change would be to make the side pockets a little larger with a way to secure bottles and items in them. They are too small for a 32 oz Nalgene. My MacBook fits easily in to the computer slot.

Comments about Timbuk2 Commute Computer Bag - Medium:
I was very excited when I first got this bag a year ago. It's great for carrying and protecting my laptop, and has enough space/compartments for my studies. It's also stylish. Another great plus is that I can bike through a rainstorm and feel comfortable that my bag is safe. It's definitely much cooler than the average laptop bag.
However, this bag seriously messes with my shoulder/ lower back. As a young guy in good shape, it's not sending me to a masseur yet, but it's only a matter of time, which is why I plan to stop using it. My left shoulder gets compressed, which creates an imbalance on the left side of my back as well. It's also painful on my neck. Switching between sides alleviates the problem somewhat, but then causes pain on the other side.
Messenger bags are considered a sort of stylish panacea for bikers, and I have a lot of friends who use this bag. But I find the back problems heightened even more when leaning over the handlebars, and on rare occasions when I haven't tightened the strap enough, the bag will swing into my lap while I'm riding!
If you're carrying less than ten-fifteen pounds, it's not a problem, but with a laptop, you're going to be over that quickly, and add a few books, notebooks and gadgets and suddenly it seems twice as heavy as an evenly distributed backpack.
Overall, this isn't really a knock against Timbuktu but against the messenger style in general. There is simply no structurally friendly way to carry a heavy bag over one shoulder.
To add to my frustration, I often use this as a carry-on or weekend pack. I find myself having a difficult time packing, even at the minimal end... and I'm very much a minimal traveler.

Great bag to carry around books, papers, ipod, etc. However, if you're looking to carry around a 15.4" laptop, this bag will be too small (mine doesn't fit).

Comments about Timbuk2 Commute Computer Bag - Medium:
I use the Timbuk2 Commute bag on a daily basis. I found it to be just what I was looking for. It is a light bag, with enough capacity to carry what I need. I recently took a trip to NOLA, carrying all my system needs, and it carried it all, and wasn't too heavy. I barely noticed it.

This bike survived 4 years of college biking almost everyday!
Downfall, make sure your computer fits. My current 16' Toshiba does not fit, its close but it will not go in the computer slot.
Bags is water proof so great for riding in the rain. Still would recommend fenders for the bag can get pretty soaked.
My bag went to Malaysia, New Zealand, and Australia one summer and got used everyday almost always full of class work and my computer. And beside being a little dirty is still holding up just fine
Really like the water bottle holders and rear zippered back for papers and what not.
Lots of pockets and places to holds everything you have.
Great Bag
